Nee, @HuisartsWeten, het is niet hormoonvrij. Dat is een vorm van misleidende premarketing. Wekelijks een antiprogestageen geven is tamelijk hormonaal.

Volgens de berichten gaat het eigen risico in de zorg stijgen per 2027. Een beetje context; Sinds 2016 is het bedrag van het verplichte eigen risico in de zorg gelijk gebleven. Omdat de inflatie sinds die tijd ruim 32% is geweest, is het reeële eigen risico eigenlijk gedaald.

Incredible piece showing why hospitals are the biggest driver of healthcare spending. Everyone wants to blame pharma but that’s not what’s happening. Hospitals can mark up drugs when they administer them. And those markups can be absurd. Bloomberg found hospitals charging insurers five times, ten times, even over 700 times what Medicare would pay for the same drug. Example from the article: Oxaliplatin. A 20 year old generic cancer drug. Long off patent. The manufacturer barely makes money on it anymore. Medicare pays about $35 per dose. Yet nearly 150 US hospitals billed five times that or more. It is hospital pricing power. This is why premiums are high. This is why out of pocket costs are high. Hospitals are the single largest driver of healthcare spending. Must read from @Bloomberg.

Yes, you read that right. Girls vaccinated before 16 have an 80% lower risk of cervical cancer. Not a small reduction. Not “maybe.” Eighty percent. The protection isn’t only for the cervix. HPV causes cancers of the anus, penis, vagina, vulva, mouth, throat - the vaccine blocks the virus before the damage ever starts. This isn’t one study. Eerst waren huisartsen tegen hormoontherapie, dan wordt er een niet-hormonale pil ontwikkeld (zoals fezolinetant), maar die moet je natuurlijk niet gebruiken (usual suspects: prijs, geringe ervaring). Nu mag hormonaal weer want indertijd allemaal verkeerd geïnterpreteerd. Pff.
