EXCELLENT: While the country is transfixed by ethical scandals swirling around SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas, it bears noting that Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan turned down a gift of bagels from friends she'd known for decades, concerned that it would violate court ethics rules. The proposed gift to Justice Kagan was refused in February 2021, along with babka, chocolates, lox, and other relatively inexpensive items according to a report from The Insider. Kagan reportedly sent an email to her friends stating "I have to take these ethics and reporting considerations very seriously." Justice Thomas has accepted rides on private jets, private yachts, and other high priced luxury offers with no consideration for ethical conflicts whatsoever.
