This week commences the Olympics ticket presale that is available only to Oklahoma City and Los Angeles residents. Those who entered and won the draw are getting their notification emails this week. There will ultimately be approximately 200,000 tickets available for Oklahoma City events, and they will rank with NBA Finals tickets as the hottest tickets in our city’s history. For those about to enter the presale experience, I wanted to share some highlights of the schedule, from an OKC perspective. Our Olympic journey will include nine days of canoe slalom followed by seven days of softball. Each canoe slalom ticket will admit you to a full daily session. Put another way, each day of canoe slalom will include one session and will require one ticket. In contrast, much of the softball schedule will include three games a day, and each game will be a separate ticket. Here is how it breaks down. You may want to take a look at this before you enter the presale. Canoe slalom: July 14-22 Softball: July 23-29 Friday, July 14 - The first Olympic event in Oklahoma City history will commence this day. This will also be the only sporting event of the Olympics this day. In the evening will be the Opening Ceremonies in Los Angeles. July 15 - The first Olympic medals in Oklahoma City history will be awarded this day. July 16 - More medals awarded this day. July 17 - Competition, but no medals today. July 18 - Medals are awarded this day. July 19 - Medals are awarded this day. July 20 - Competition, but no medals today. July 21 - Competition, but no medals today. July 22 - Canoe slalom closes with a day of medals. July 23 - The first softball games of the tournament, and this continues through July 27. July 28 - The Bronze medal game. July 29 - The Gold medal game and the final event of the Olympics in OKC. Best wishes as you embark on your ticket journey!

Went down the rabbit hole on this. Crows can recognize your face, hold a grudge for years, and warn other crows to avoid you. The thousands in Tel Aviv right now are running a nightly operation that puts most logistics companies to shame. Every evening from fall through early spring, crows worldwide gather in massive groups to sleep together. It's called communal roosting. In 1973, a biologist at Tel Aviv University named Amotz Zahavi figured out why. His theory: the roost works like a group chat. Crows that found food during the day show up well-fed. Crows that didn't eat watch who looks healthy, then follow them the next morning to wherever the food is. The flock is a nightly information exchange. A crow has about 1.5 billion brain cells. That's roughly the same as some monkeys. The cells are just smaller and packed closer together, which may actually make them faster. In lab tests using the same setup for both animals, crows and monkeys held the same number of items in short-term memory: about four. Crows bend wire into hooks to reach food. They teach each other which individual humans are dangerous. In 2024, German researchers taught them to count aloud, using different calls for different numbers. A 2020 study in Science found crows are aware of what they're seeing and can think about it before acting. Until that paper, only humans and monkeys had shown that ability. Israel sits on one of the planet's busiest bird highways. About 500 million birds from 550 species pass through Israeli airspace twice a year. The hooded crow, the species in this footage, lives in Israel year-round and has been spreading across the country for decades. It thrives on city garbage and streetlights. A warm coastal city at dusk in late March, with overflowing bins everywhere, is basically a crow buffet. The "harbinger of doom" thing comes from the Bible and medieval Europe, where people noticed crows gathering near battlefields and plague sites. But the crows showed up after the death. They were eating. People saw the pattern, flipped the cause and effect, and the superstition stuck for a few thousand years. What you're actually watching is one of the smartest animals alive running a logistics network that a Tel Aviv University scientist explained over 50 years ago.

Footage showing thousands of crows flying across the Tel Aviv skyline is going viral! This is considered by many to be a "harbinger of doom” as it is often followed by total catastrophe. An extremely rare sight that no country ever wants to see.

Trump: "The President of the United States Gavin Newscum admitted that he has learning disabilities." Yes, he actually called @GavinNewsom the "President of the United States" while trying to insult his cognition.

Plz do, no disrespect but OKC doesn’t claim or entertain anything Seattle, lol.. Do u think ur walk into our home arena and see a trophy from the Seattle supersonics? No, lol. Thunder are in Oklahoma, SuperSonics are in Seattle, two completely different cities, two complete different franchises and we here in Oklahoma are very proud to keep it that way! This post paints a picture of something to change, lol..

If NBA expansion is approved, the Oklahoma City Thunder will cede all Seattle-era history back to the SuperSonics, per @BobbyMarks42 "Sources said if a team was to return to Seattle, the Thunder would cede the Seattle history back to the SuperSonics -- just as the NBA's Charlotte Hornets reclaimed the Charlotte-era history of the New Orleans Pelicans when Charlotte regained the Hornets name in 2014... The deal... stipulated that the name SuperSonics and all associated logos, colors and trademark would be transferred to the owner of a new NBA team... That agreement laid out the terms of shared ownership of Sonics history, including the team's 1979 championship trophy and retired jerseys."

@johnnarcher @davidfholt I agree. It's not done because the private Kirkpatrick Organization owns the land and doesn't want it cutting through their property for some reason. It's a real bummer. It is already such a great trail system. Wish they would let us complete the missing mile.

A great MAPS 4 project now underway is beautification. This week, the Council approved the designs for new beautification features at the airport, near the Horizons District, and at the intersection of Reno and Lincoln (an approach to RIVERSPORT and Horizons). Renderings below…
