@liamdnft @rationalaussie @grok I don’t think that’s true. I can’t find it anywhere I think grok is right. Can you show me where it is in the budget papers?

@Henrymakeit15 @rationalaussie @grok Wow grok actually answers this wrong. Rare L
The main thing it changes with selling business is the indexation of gains per year post July 2027 which means businesses will pay more tax every year until age 55 that grok is right doesn’t change

Last night’s budget could reshape where investor money flows in Australian real estate for the next decade.
Development sites, new builds, duplexes, townhouses and build-to-rent may benefit most as incentives shift to housing supply.
When money flow changes, the whole map changes.

Tonight’s Budget may come with two completely different stories.
The official one: “We’re fixing housing and creating fairness for future generations.”
And the unofficial one? “We knew Australians would never vote for this if we told them beforehand.”

In Australia, we call em 5-baggers
Jeremy Raper@puppyeh1
It’s not finding the 10 bags. It’s holding the 10 bags… Actually it’s both. But the latter is infinitely more difficult

@DiscussingFilm They need to stop this show. They’re going to kill a good thing. It needs to be a limited series not a forever show.

Biggest opening day for any ‘Mortal Kombat’ film ever

One of the biggest tax changes in decades will be announced in next week’s Federal Budget. The widely expected CGT changes won’t just affect wealthy investors or property owners... they affect anyone trying to build long term wealth through shares, investment property or building a business.
To help Australians understand the potential impact, we’ve built a CGT calculator that estimates how much better or worse off people could be under the proposed rules: stockspot.com.au/cgt-calculator/
A few examples from the calculator:
• An ETF investor growing $100k over 10 years could end up with around $26k less after tax
• A property investor could lose more than $50k in after tax wealth
• A founder building and selling a business for $1m could lose more than $225k
If you materially reduce the after-tax reward for taking long term risks, fewer people will invest in businesses and productive assets. Over time that means less investment and innovation, fewer startups, lower productivity growth and ultimately fewer jobs in Australia. I discussed this in The Australian last week. theaustralian.com.au/wealth/investi…
Instead, more money gets pushed into the family home, super or cash sitting in the bank.
That’s why entrepreneurs and business leaders including @PaulBassat, @GeoffWilsonWAM, @leighjasper, @matt_barrie, @lux_schwab, @lukeanear, @Bron_LeGrice, @MJBiercuk and @craigRblair have all raised concerns about the broader economic consequences these changes could create.
We thought if people could properly quantify what these changes might cost them over time, it would make the broader economic impact much harder to ignore.
The calculator is designed to help Australians model different scenarios before any final rules are announced: stockspot.com.au/cgt-calculator/

KALSHI RAISES $1B AT $22B VALUATION AS PREDICTION MARKETS SCALE
Kalshi raised $1 billion at a $22 billion valuation, led by Coatue with participation from major investors including Morgan Stanley, Sequoia Capital, and Andreessen Horowitz.
Founded to turn real-world questions into tradable markets, Kalshi says it is building a new financial system where probabilities are priced transparently, not through fragmented or opaque channels.
The company now claims over 90% of U.S. prediction market volume and says annualized trading has reached $178 billion in the past six months, with growing institutional adoption from hedge funds and asset managers.
