For those with short memories, this was the Jay report. It made 20 recommendations to the then Home Secretary Suella Braverman. Nothing was done. Rather than start a new inquiry, shall we actually implement the findings of the last one.

I always say any of our moggies can come back to the shelter any time, but this one was hard. 2.5 years after @lisybabe adopted our gorgeous visually-impaired ginger boy Biscuit, we found out last night that Lisa had passed away in her home. We think Biscuit was alone around 1.5 weeks but he is OK, and heading back to Moggy Manor later this week. I'm so thankful to Lisa for all the love she gave Biscuit over their time together, I wish I could tell her that.
Lizzie 🧵🏳‍🌈@LizzieCharlton

Biscuit has been found safe and well, and @holly will be taking care of him, as Lisa requested. Further details about funeral arrangements to follow

There's no easy way to say this. I'm sorry to be the deliverer of bad news in this way to so many. Today I learnt that our friend @lisybabe has died. I don't have many more details at the moment I'm afraid.

In Ontario the processing time for sickness benefits is 6+ months. The waiting time for euthanasia is just 3. Some disabled people in Canada are 'choosing' death as a solution to social problems @touretteshero looks at waiting times in the UK & compares them to assisted suicide
Touretteshero@touretteshero

In your reply you say: there’ll be “stringent safeguards to prevent undue influence or pressure” I’m keen to understand what these are & if they will address social/state/resource pressures like those experienced by sick & disabled Canadians? @TheNotDeadYetUK @thelizcarr 2/3

@JosieLong This directly affects my care. I get a finite pot of money from the council to pay my staff, I am the employer, either the council will have to up the ££ to cover the cost or I don't get my Care Act 'assessed needs' met. I'm not alone in this.

Reducing wayfinding for the purposes of advertising is abhorrent. They tried it with "Burberry Street" and were rightly hounded. I've asked @TfL to provide the risk assesment they completed with reference to the Equality Act. @suey2y Aesthetic matters most to these people so no, no sentimental or tatty furniture, pay a cleaner or spend precious hours scrubbing every inch. Some people's life choices make me think I'm very sane in comparison

Am watching one of those "Perfect Home" programmes. All I can ever think is HOW is it that EVERY bit of furniture is perfect? Surely we all have bits of inherited old tat we can't part with? Do they actually live in these places? Who cleans them before the film shoot?

Israel has detonated the equivalent of 5 and a half Hiroshima bombs in a strip of land the size of East London. Suggesting Israel’s mass slaughter is caused by Hamas or anyone else is straightforward atrocity denial.
David Lammy@DavidLammy

Appalled by the Israeli Military strike on al-Tabeen school and the tragic loss of life. Hamas must stop endangering civilians. Israel must comply with International Humanitarian Law. We need an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians, free all hostages, and end restrictions on aid.

I can’t say often enough giving it to people who don’t need it was the price of ensuring everyone who did need it got it. Linking it to an inadequate benefit that 800,000 who could claim don’t claim is simply a mistake.

Interview with a women on #C4News who’s concerned because her son can’t get a council house but Asylum seekers get homes etc. it’s pointed out Asylum seekers can’t apply for council housing. Her response ‘I didn’t know that’ - thats the problem! Media & Gov must educate!!

The arsonists last night destroyed a Citizens Advice Bureau. For those outside the UK, that's a place where the British public, particularly low income or disadvantaged communities, get free legal advice and support. Staff are devastated. "We're protecting our community"

you’re missing something massive if your broad analysis of why this country is in the state it’s in right now doesn’t include the phrase “in the 2010s, councils saw their funding cut by half”

It seems as if some people think that the 'hostile environment' wasn't hostile enough. What a useful phrase that was.
