NBA All-Star Game fix:
1. Select 12 players from each conference
2. Plus 8 guys who were snubbed

@FUDHelpdesk @JeffBezos If you tax unrealized gains are you going to tax unrealized losses? If Bezos loses $10B on paper if Amazon’s stock falls, will the government pay him billions for those unrealized losses?
English

Ok so I read it and... The article proves the opposite of what it thinks it proves.
Nobody serious is saying you illegally evaded taxes. The point is that the tax code lets billionaire wealth grow almost untouched while wages get taxed immediately.
“Unrealized gains aren’t income” is not a rebuttal. It’s the loophole.
Legal isn’t the same as fair. It just means the people who benefit wrote the rules neatly enough.
English

Please do a quick read of this. It’s short, well written, and will remove a bit of wool from over your eyes.

@thatcadenadrian @flasportsbuzz @Aidan1683453 I agree. My trade idea still leaves them the flexibility to get a solid 3-and-D guy.
English

@HermannKid @flasportsbuzz @Aidan1683453 Detroit needs a ball handler yeah but more than anything they need consistent shooting without it being a defensive liability
English

This participate trade would not satisfy cap rules. Heat must send out at least $46.6 M in a trade for Giannis (and no other players). These 3 combine for $43.5 M. Niko Jovic salary would help facilitate this, but there are other paths, certainly.
NBACentral@TheDunkCentral
The Heat are reportedly offering Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, the No. 13 pick, and two future first-round picks for Giannis Antetokounmpo, per @GeryWoelfel
English

@flasportsbuzz @Aidan1683453 Heat should offer Jaquez to Detroit for a FRP to use in the trade. He can be a secondary ball handler scorer to complement Cade on a cheap contract (for now).
English

@Aidan1683453 I don't know if Jaquez is part of their latest offer, but I don't believe there's any Milwaukee ask (other than Bam) that would necessarily kill a deal if the Bucks propose it.
English

@BattleRapBets @chibbs_1 JJ got the job because he was podcasting with LeBron. There are probably better examples he could have used.

The #Blazers are in joke territory. And that happens with new owners. They come in thinking they know it all as they’ve been successful in business, and learn the hard way.
See Tom Gores (he’s finally figured it out).
Mat Ishbia (still learning)
Steve Ballmer actually did it the right way; just had bad luck (injuries)
Marc J. Spears@MarcJSpears
Rahsaan Gethers, VP of Basketball Communications with the Portland Trail Blazers, was part of the mass layoffs made by the team yesterday. Very talented PR guru who was respected by the players and coaches alike and also had a productive working relationship with the media.
English

@C_S__ They probably want to play together. They were teammates in college.
English

@BronAgenda @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet I appreciate your response but I don’t think that’s correct. The minimum was $139 million.

English

@HermannKid @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet not how it works in the NBA. the owners HAVE to spend to the 1st apron or they’ll be penalized, that money was going to players either way, they wouldn’t have saved money to avoid these cuts if they hadn’t paid Dame
English

The wealth never, ever trickles down.
Fullcourtpass@Fullcourtpass
The Portland Trail Blazers laid off around 70 employees today, per @highkin
English

@SamQuinnCBS There are 2 paths:
1. He stays in LA without taking a pay cut and he’s a farewell tour or
2. Miami lands Giannis and LeBron joins MIA on a MLE or a sign and trade that sends Wiggins to LA.
English

He obviously deserves way more than the minimum. This also restricts him pretty significantly. I don't know if Cleveland, for instance, could justify jumping through all of the hoops it would take to pay him more. Golden State MAYBE has a path to the MLE depending on other stuff.
Fullcourtpass@Fullcourtpass
LeBron James will NOT consider taking a veterans minimum contract this summer, per @JakeLFischer
English

@jpbuehner @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet His contract is guaranteed like every NBA contract. He will get paid. The owner will find other ways to cut costs.
English

@jpbuehner @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet Thank you. That’s not his market value. He literally could not play this year. The previous owner was the estate of a dead billionaire that signed off on his foolish contract.
English

@HermannKid @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet So your solution would be the player under contractual agreement, being paid market value for his skillset, so sacrifice his wage to supplement franchise employees rather than the person that OWNS THE FRANCHISE?
My point is that you’re a complete idiot.
English

@DaveyTweetWorld @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet Are you suggesting that people who were laid off were dead weight?
English

@HermannKid @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet I’m an FP&A director and you’re doing the equivalent of comparing an roi-positive salesman who doesn’t sell much in their first year to a middling back office IT worker. Also without context re: if the people he laid off are good or dead weight
English

@jvd0730 @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet Why would he say no? He was one the highest paid players in the NBA last year before collecting an extra $14 mil. That don’t sounds greedy to you?
English

@HermannKid @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet The money that he was offered and will more than make up for in ticket sales and jersey sales. Why would he say no? You’re a dumbass
English

@tygabomb8 @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet Unlike the previous owner who was a much richer billionaire who stopped working in 1983
English

@CHold @trailblazers Sorry to hear that. Hope the next step of your journey is as rewarding as the last. You will be missed.
English

I have indeed been let go after 18+ years with the @trailblazers. My sincerest thanks to all of you who have read/listened/watched/engaged with my work over the years.
English

@DaveyTweetWorld @scooperhoops @GeraldBourguet The organization has profits and losses like any other business. They’re paying a guy who can’t play $14 million - that money could be spent on arena workers, maintenance staff…
English

@jrichardgoodman Blame the greedy owners but not the greedy players. Dame was paid $14 million to rehab this year. That’s $200,000 x 70 people laid off. Clearly there was some financial mismanagement in the Blazers organization.
