For three years, my partner has been venting the same dinner-table monologue: "I can't find the anti-pTau again." "Someone aliquoted the GFAP and didn't write it down." "I think we have four tubes of the same antibody in four different freezers." She's a neuroscientist. I'm a builder. Eventually, I did something about it.

Out today in PNAS, we explore how sleep habits – and nightly changes in sleep – may link to next-day physical activity. In two large-scale wearable sensor studies (~6.5 million nights from ~26,000 individuals), we found: 1. Longer sleep duration and later sleep timing were consistently linked to less next-day moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA). 2. Those who typically fell asleep at 9 p.m. logged ~28 more minutes of MVPA daily than those with a typical bedtime of 1 a.m. 3. The most active days followed nights when people went to bed earlier than usual without reducing their usual sleep duration. Key takeaway: Advancing sleep timing may be a simple, actionable way to support more active lifestyles without compromising sleep duration. Happy to interrupt your election feed, to share our own findings. In an effort guided by @sophiejccaron and @JasonSynaptic we have made some interesting findings. Come and check it out.

At the end of 2018 I was lucky to receive a @cziscience Ben Barres award. This preprint is the culmination of that funding, which allowed us to try "out of the box" ideas to study neurodegeneration. Fearlessly led by amazing student @MitaliTyagi2! 🧵 /1 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

@DaniBeckman 🤯Is this FISH or IHC? Regardless, could you provide a no primary control or scrambled ISH probe control?

I'm delighted to share the latest work from our lab in which @HaoChingJiang1 and SungJin Park demonstrate that MS4A1/CD20 functions as a mammalian odorant receptor in a previously uncharacterized population of sensory neurons. rdcu.be/dE8B7

Since our lab tech Alyson is moving on to grad school (🎉), we are in need of a new tech. We are especially interested in folks who have tissue culture experience as the duties will be to generate primary rodent neurons. Please RT and DM me if interested. utah.peopleadmin.com/postings/161577

Happy to share that my second PhD work is online now! I am honored to be the co-first and co-corresponding author of this project. TL;DR, we established a multiplexed method to simultaneously capture single-neuron transcriptome and projectome. (1/n)
