Springdale, Iowa was a Quaker community w/strong abolitionist ties. Stopped there last week on a John Brown project & found this unrelated but intriguing grave site. Obit from Muscatine Journal (Dec 1902) via @StateCuratorIA

@RobSandIA On the way back from Arnolds Park and a meeting at one of our state historic sites, my lunch was a slice of pepperoni and a slice of jalapeño popper. Outstanding.

Fun day exploring local history with a great group of students. Algona, Emmetsburg, Spencer, and Spirit Lake hosted our wonderful wandering Waldorf Warrior History Club!

In addition to being an interesting place to visit, the Camp Algona POW museum did a great job in making this a true community effort! Lots of people lent their time and resources to give the marker a good home.

A really great historical marker at the Algona, IA airport, site of original camp. Good contextual panels adjacent to it. How is this, @johngmarks? @MwHWG @IowaMuseum @IowaCulture @notesoniowa @WhoToTheWhatNow

Happy to be in Mason City for the 2022 Preserve Iowa Summit! Great keynote by @ArchUW’s Kathryn Rogers Merlino. Looking forward to talking and thinking about the built environment. Also, the food. #IowaHistory #IowaCulture
