Mezzo vero mezzo falso ecco

@solarfoid Italian sounds so weird to me. It’s like they pronounce half the word they mean to say. But that’s the whole word

If you watch YouTube you likely know Davie504, the bass guy. He decided to finally leave Italy. After paying 60% in taxes he STILL got raided by the Italian Financial Police because he was a YouTuber. He says that though Italy says that the 60% taxes pay for free services it's not actually free. He says healthcare is "free" but the waiting list is 6-12 months anyways for a simple scan so you get scared and use a private clinic and pay out of pocket anyways so you're basically being double dipped. "In Italy you need a stamp, then a different stamp, then an appointment that's three months away, then you show up to an office then its closed, then you realize you need to know people and participate in bribe culture." These type of systems are untenable and people will flee to places they are welcomed and can thrive. "Loving a country that doesn't love you back is exhausting. You can't live on memories alone. You can't pay your rent with culture." "As an entrepreneur you want to focus on your craft and create, but in Italy it felt like 70% of my energy was spent trying to deal with a system." Worth watching the whole video. This is the future of the United States if things continue down a certain path. youtube.com/watch?v=qaDufi…

@rusevvvv @aledeniz If I had to wager it'd be the fact that it approximately coincides with the democratic christians shifting left and ditching the MSI with the tambroni gov though the timeline is a little wonky. Truthfully, italy post civil war has always been a bit of a mess.

@aledeniz Is there a specific event that occured in 1969, what is so specific about this year?

Italy's decline started in 1969. We could argue if the start date can be backdated to 1964 or 1968 or postdated to 1971 or 1973, but that's the whole universe of available options. Proposing 2002 is sincerely ridicoulous. By the Italy had been in decline for at least 3 decades, possibly almost 4.
Michael A. Arouet@MichaelAArouet

It's always cute when people argue that the demise of Italian industry and stagnant real wages over the last two decades have nothing to do with the Euro's introduction. How do you explain that then? Why can't people admit that the Euro has been an epic failure for Italy?

@GovernorGa_ @Kerryist04 It reminds me of early TNO, when the lore was just so good you could realistically wave off a lot of the problems with it.

@newestleaf @Kerryist04 Yes and no. I think it has a mix of larping for just about anyone. The only "problem" is that each team is functionally independent last I checked. So the RU gets spotlight for being pretty consistent with tweaks and updates, whilst the other teams are taking longer

@iaArt1 Genuinely amazing series, loved it. Can't wait for it to continue. Honestly, the only criticism I can realistically levy is that at times it felt a little dragging though only marginally. A bit of a shame how we only get glimpses of the unionists. Still, love it a lot, can't wait

@Polavianus @Luna_starrest Imagine a city too big for it's own good. Everything and nothing at the same time. Full of pretty much everything you could want from a major city and, at the same time, sorely lacking it. It kinda just feels soulless at times. Lots of flashy things but with little substance

@WilliamJosephh @OregonMapGuy @MobyDickSpoiler It's very good. Genuinely accurate if a little artsy retelling of his rise to power. At points I unironically started to get heated from how good it portrays both the violence of the fasci and the failures of the democratic establishment of the time
