For every F-35 blown out the sky, multiple schools, hospitals and apartment buildings are saved, and a powerful step towards peace is taken.

The Japanese journalist probably thought he was being slick by slipping in that question to make it clear Japan has no involvement in the US's attack on Iran. But instead of letting it slide, the US didn't just brush off Japan—they hit back hard by dredging up Japan's invasion history right in public, humiliating Takaichi right after she went out of her way to praise Trump for "bringing peace to the world." She's just embarrassing her own country at this point.
Kaitlan Collins@kaitlancollins

Asked why he didn't coordinate with allies before going to war with Iran, Trump says, "We didn't tell anyone about it. Who knows better about surprise than Japan? Why didn't you tell me about Pearl Harbor, OK?"

Verdict: @DNIGabbard @TulsiGabbard is a Neocon stooge, a disgrace to herself & the country she claims to serve. Truth is this legendary hypocrite only feigned antiwar credentials to tap into independent populist political support which she then pawned-off to Trump-Netanyahu cabal for 30 pieces of silver. It’s as if she only ever served herself & her lofty career ambitions on behalf of a corrupt corporate Military Industrial Complex & foreign lobby, Israel. An absolute disgrace…
CSPAN@cspan

.@RepJimmyGomez: "You testified last year that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon. Do you stand by that statement?" @DNIGabbard: "Context matters—" Gomez: "You either stand by what you said last year, or not."

A Japanese leader who refuses to reflect on her country’s history of aggression, whitewashes war crimes, and is trying to revise the peace constitution — sitting down with a country that just bombed schools in another nation and killed innocent children — to talk about working together to achieve world peace. Can you think of anything more hypocritical?

Many people wouldn't have liked it when I called Iran a rational actor. But consider their actions so far. -Did not close Strait of Hormuz until there was an existential threat to their country -Did not attack critical energy infrastructure until theirs was targeted -They have once again threatened that they will destroy the regional energy infrastructure if theirs is attacked, prompting Trump to announce no more of Iran's will be targeted -They have demonstrated the capability to destroy the entire energy infrastructure of the Gulf and yet, they are holding themselves back. Compare this with Israel and USA's actions so far: -Decapitation strike against Iran while negotiations were progressing well (Oman confirmed this) and a ceasefire was in place. -Targeted Iran's energy infrastructure knowing fully well that there will be retaliation. -Initiated a war they have no means of winning without plunging the entire world into an apocalypse. Which side is the rational actor here?
Sensei Kraken Zero@YearOfTheKraken

Because: 1. Iran is a rational actor. 2. The threat to close the Strait of Hormuz was the enforcement of their red line. 3. Their red line was crossed [regime change war], hence, they shut down the Strait. What would others have done? They would have done exactly what US-Israel are doing now. It's also the reason nothing can be done about it now.

@propandco TF is he talking about? It makes perfect sense. In fact, it is such a logical response that the military took the bases down skeleton staffing prior to the launch of the war. It was literally the first big sign things were escalating

This isn’t complicated. The gulf are giving their airspace to aerial tankers that refuel the jets heading to bomb Iran. The bases in the gulf provide maintenance and logistical support for these planes. The US has posted video evidence of ballistic missile launches at Iran from gulf countries. I’m not sure if this is some sort of gaslighting or perhaps you were unaware but you cannot keep presenting this as some sort of unprovoked Iranian attack on innocent Muslim countries. I wish it wasn’t the case because I prefer the Muslim world to be united but the reality is that the gulf nations are part of a military political and economic order that serves both the US and Israel. Yahya Sinwars intention was to expose this with October 7th and directly challenge it. This is happening right now before our eyes. As for the older rhetoric you referenced in your tweet, it predates this conflict but it does not predate the relationship these nations had with the US and Israel. Iran does not have an intention to conquer Sunni nations. This has always been a battle against the US imperialism and Zionism. Their rhetoric against the gulf must be seen through this lens. The unfortunate reality is that the onus falls on the gulf to break out of the political order they are in and avoid war because Iran can simply not afford to cease their attacks on their military and energy infrastructure. They are in an existential fight for their survival that requires retaliation and deterrence. They cannot inflict this directly on the US so they must target the Achilles heel: That’s oil, gas and the strait of Hormuz.
Hassan I. Hassan@hxhassan

I’m convinced most officials & specialists are too immersed in the moment to realize a certain basic fact about why Iran is striking the Gulf. When Iran was fighting in Syria & Iraq, its field commanders & their proxies (and their ecosystems in countries of Iranian influence) always promised that the next battle would be in the Gulf. This was conveyed, explicitly or otherwise, by Qassem Soleimani and allies like Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, Hassan Nasrallah and the Assad regime. It was part of a doctrine guiding Iran’s regional strategy, not mere passing comments. (The same language that Israel began using against regional countries only recently. “Qatar is next” or “Turkey is the new Iran” etc. Iran has used that language for many years.) Now, Gulf countries look at Iran and wonder: Why is Iran hitting us when we tried to talk Trump out of striking it? Iran knows we tried our best. Iran’s action is understandable if it targeted the UAE and Saudi Arabia, but why mediators like Qatar? Yes we have US bases, yes we can scream at the US, but it still makes little sense, even from a basic divide-and-conquer strategy. But Iran sees this war as having begun at least a decade or so ago, and the Gulf states played a vital role in getting Iran to where it is today. The Gulf is the problem, not just Israel or the US. Strategically reckless, but that is the plain IRGC logic. This is clear if those officials had followed the rhetoric over the last 1-2 decades and the nitty-gritty behavior of Iran on a ground level outside Iran.

This is a grave and egregious act of savagery. A war crime. The British government has said nothing about an attack which could have been fatal on a British journalist. The Russian government will not be silent on this I’m sure. @HatsOffff
