Rwanda has become a country where @RwandaGov accountability no longer exists. Kagame is one of Africa’s most frequent travelers, yet #Rwandans are never told where he goes, what he does, or how his trips benefit the country and how much it even costs. His office @UrugwiroVillage has a press secretary @PressSecRwanda, but they never brief the media, never issue statements, and never share updates about the president’s official activities or visitors. The government spokesperson @YolandeMakolo is also silent with no press conferences, no public explanations, nothing. Meanwhile, Rwanda’s media landscape has been gutted. The journalists who once dared to ask hard questions are either in prison, in exile, dead, or have been forced into silence or self-censorship. What remains now are unprofessional whacks in the media sanitising or mimicking everything the government does just so they can survive the day. Rwanda under Kagame no longer functions like a republic. It operates like a kingdom / a dictatorship where fear replaces freedoms.
