"Copywriting" is a misleading term. Better terms are: Sales writing... Copy assembly... Research distillation. This is because it's 90% consumer psychology and 10% writing. A fifth grade level of writing is enough to sell a ton. A kid could write well enough for most brands. That covers the 10%. The 90% is in immersion. Immersion into the psyche of the buyer/reader, immersion into the brand, immersion into the competition, and immersion into the product.

Your AI copy isn't fooling anyone. It's 2026. Even the ones who can't quite put their finger on it and name it, still sense something's off. It's flat. It's impersonal. It reads like a stuck-up corporate giving a lecture. And it sucks. But not for the reason that you think. It's not that AI is evil. It's not that it doesn't make work easier. It's not that you couldn't prompt it to sound more human. None of that. It's that it shows you don't care enough. A reader skims and subconsciously thinks... "It's about the content rat race for them. They'd rather outsource connection to a word spewer." Your reader knows that all they are to you is a number. A metric. And you know what you're training them to do? To ignore you. And here's why... If they had a blind fold on, they couldn't tell you apart from Bob and Martha. If you were a TV, they couldn't tell when the channel was switched. You have no voice of your own. You sound like Bob's monologue. Yawn. Thankfully, there are 7 days in a week. Pick one of those days and actually show up. Come dressed in your skin. Let's see you for who you are. Really. Let's hear what you sound like. We forgot. Just once this week... Be you.

Freelancing’s hard. Working a 9-5 you’re a cog in a machine. Working for yourself you’re the whole machine. If you need spoon-feeding… If you need absolute certainty… If you don’t know how to find answers by yourself… You’re going to struggle.

My favorite writing advice fits in two words: write simply. You’ve heard it before, but I bet you haven’t heard the best argument for it. It comes from a Nobel Prize physicist, of all people. Richard Feynman was asked one day to teach one of his topics to first-year students. He worked on it for days, then gave up. Everyone expected him to say “the topic is too advanced, you can’t explain this to freshmen.” Instead he said, “it means we don't understand it enough.” He couldn’t explain it simply, so he concluded that HE didn’t understand it. One of the smartest men of his century, with a Nobel Prize in this field. And that’s the big secret behind the advice: If you can’t say it in simple words, you don’t get it yet. Because simple words have nowhere to hide. When your thinking is unclear, a simple sentence shows it to everyone, starting with you. On the other hand, complicated writing gives you cover. Big words and long sentences can make any shaky idea look solid. And it can fool you too. That’s why so much writing out there is complicated: the writers are hiding. And in Copy, this costs you serious money. Because if your reader doesn’t understand at the speed he scrolls… if your writing starts to feel like work… He’s gone, along with his money. So when your writing comes out complicated, go understand your idea better. And the simple sentences will come out on their own.

The hardest person to write about your business... ...is yourself. You know too much. You naturally write from what you already know instead of what customers need to understand. And the problem is... The closer you are to your business, the harder it is to see what customers don't. That's why an outside perspective is one of the biggest advantages you can have. Feltcopy exists to close that gap between what you know and what your customers understand. We handle the messaging strategy and the writing, so your customers understand your value from the first sentence. DM for a free messaging audit and a personalized rewrite. Offer stands for the first 15 businesses to reach out.

You know your business too well. Your customers don't. Write for what they need to understand first, not what you want to explain first.

The reason you aren’t landing copywriting clients? It’s not because: -you’re a bad writer -you don’t have a portfolio -you’re not sending enough cold emails THIS is the real reason…

@AlexHormozi This is why I focus on content before anything else. By the time someone reaches out, they already know what I'm about. The "sale" happened in the content they consumed. The conversation is just confirmation...

You will increase your sales and close rates more by perfecting what the person consumes before they talk to you than perfecting what you say after.

@Markmanson I think that fundamentally suggests having spiritual footing. Could be knowing you're the Self and not just a little human with roles and objectives. So, it'd be easier to be detached. To allow things to be because you don't have a rigid dependence on them for well-being.
