So ends my eighth (!) season covering the Bruins. As always, thank you to everyone who read my stuff, watched our podcasts, and laughed at my tweets. Very grateful that I’ve got the best gig in the world. Can’t wait to be back at it in the fall.

After a small amount of rain in the last 24 hours, April 2026 is going into the books about 2" below the average precipitation. Every month this year has been below average and Boston is now close to 6" below for 2026. (10 of 12 months were below in 2025)

Been a very dry April around here. Going back 6 months (R) some significant deficits

Keeping tabs on a nearby ocean storm Saturday night/Sunday AM AI models pretty locked in on OTS/grazing the Cape. But worthy of watching for any possible shifts

Expecting some rain next Wednesday before the month ends, but overall quite dry this April (and going back into March)

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible between 4 PM and 10 PM today, primarily in NW MA. The greatest risk remains further northwest. Damaging winds may down trees and powerlines. Damaging hail can also not be ruled out with any storms that may turn severe. #MAwx #RIwx #CTwx

While the outlook for the 6-10 day period favors near normal precipitation in much of the East, with the exception of New England things are favored to maybe be a little wetter by the 8-14 day period. Meanwhile outside of New England, above normal temps are generally favored.

We have an elevated fire risk tomorrow. This is pretty common in the Spring, until the trees leaf out. The sun can dry out the ground quickly. Once we get some shade the risk will go down.

I thought we put this map away for the season. These are the wind chills Wednesday morning. Breezy with temps in the 20s will make it feel like the teens. Bundle up.

Make new friends, but keep the old. A new photo captures the Moon's near side on the right (the side we see from Earth, identifiable by its dark splotches) and its far side on the left. The Artemis II crew are the first to see the far side with human eyes.

❄️🌨️☃️ 44 years ago today one of the most notable April snowstorms on record in the Northeast took place. The Blizzard of 1982 was a rare and in some cases unprecedented April Blizzard, especially in the immediate New York City area.

Latest ENSO guidance ups the ante for a Super-Nino event developing this year. This will likely be the main global weather influencer this year and into next, affecting patterns around the world. A quieter than average Atlantic hurricane season could be one such effect, especially for the Gulf and Caribbean
