Project Hail Mary has very little in common with Arrival, Gravity or Interstellar yet I keep seeing those comparisons. The tone is completely different from those films. It'd be like saying 3 random films are the same because they all take place on earth...

@Drumdums @garrettkidney This is very true. The jokes are usually about the ones currently in office, though. There just happens to be LOTS of fertile ground for comedic material there, currently.

@HorrorShow666 @garrettkidney There's definitely truth to that. I think politics are handled with much more anger these days (both sides) than in the 90s/2000s. But of course politics have always been touched upon. I don't think things/sides were as fragile back then.

Jay Leno built his entire career on Bill Clinton jokes, it’s so interesting how people suddenly only see something as “political” or having an “agenda” when it’s their political views being skewered. Probably a deep insecurity about their beliefs.

Yeah but Jay Leno didn't literally cry, get emotional, or get angry about Clinton. It didn't feel like he was making it political. It was a jab at a current scandal, and he wasn't pissing off the Democratic party. Today's late night opening monologues favor political bandwagoning over comedy.

The celebrity pricing at conventions has been getting higher and higher in the last few years. To make matters even worse, the pricing structure is broken down into so many sections, when it used to be pretty simple. Is this really because of high demand, or something else? This film does not get enough love. The full Japanese version is peak Godzilla.
