As a former waterbomber pilot who used to lead an aerial firefighting fleet, I can tell you “send help” is an extremely dishonest framing by the Canadian government.
The Canadian government routinely blocks U.S. firefighting companies from attacking fires in Canada, while aggressively sending their government-subsidized aircraft to the U.S. to earn commercial rates from the U.S. taxpayer. It’s big business for them and they run it like a Chinese protectionist racket.

@yacius Only Americans trust ICE. This why we don't travel to the USA. I miss Vermont and New York City. Well, Nova Scotia and Vancouver are good replacements for trips. Cheaper as well.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days.
ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

Today, the Combatting Hate Act comes into force.
Stronger penalties for hate-motivated crimes. A ban on the public display of hate symbols. New tools to arrest anyone who tries to intimidate you or block access to your place of worship.
Because in Canada everyone should be able to be who they are and worship how they choose — openly, freely, and safely.

Today marks a troubling moment for civil liberties in Canada.
Under the guise of combating hate, the federal government has enacted legislation that expands state powers over protest and public assembly.
From the labour movement to Indigenous land defenders, from the fight for queer and trans liberation to the movement for Palestinian freedom, social progress has depended on the ability of ordinary people to organize, protest, and speak out.
A democracy that fears protest is a democracy in decline.

The IAEA is looking into reports of an overnight attack on the construction site of a planned nuclear power plant in Darkhovin, Iran. The facility is in the very early stages of construction and contained no nuclear material when last visited by the IAEA.
While the reported attack is not believed to pose any radiological risk, DG @rafaelmgrossi reiterates call for military restraint in the vicinity of all nuclear-related sites.
The IAEA has contacted Iran about the public reports and will provide further information as it becomes available.
