EPF 2025 Dividend = 6.15% (both Conv & Shariah)
Higher than I was expecting (5.8-6.1%).
I dug through the release, did some analysis and found something a little worrying.
A little 🧵

In 2018, Beijing released a white paper on how China could extend its Belt and Road Initiative to the Arctic region, calling it 冰上丝绸之路 (literally: Silk Road on Ice).
The Polar Silk Road (light blue below) refers to a navigable sea route that connects the Western hemisphere, East Asia and Western Europe via the Article Circle.
Currently, the main shipping route between Asia and Europe passes from China to Rotterdam via the Suez Canal (dark blue below) reducing trips from 40-50 days to around 18-20 days. This is significant.
The fragility of the transit route was revealed in 2021 when the Ever Given ship blocked the passage, halting traffic for 7 days. Not to mention, China does not have direct leverage or control over the Suez itself, and Egypt is a US ally.
And so a new route through the Arctic will save time and resources, and bypasses this chokepoint, for the transportation of all manner of goods.
Among military professionals, it is a time-honored truth that logistics ultimately decides who wins wars. No military campaign succeeds without constant resupply. It all comes down to movement tables, consumption rates, transportation networks, and equipment maintenance.
You can see why Beijing speaks the language of globalism and connectivity. The extensive Belt and Road Initiative (in yellow below) is to ensure control of logistics and resupply. The development of the Polar Silk Road is an attempt to build a network of land and sea corridors to ensure that no single chokepoint can cripple its global trade. Remember, choke points are leverage. And eliminating choke points means "no one can stop us from resupplying"

Oil fires in Tehran: left is the Shahr Rey oil refinery (damage **appears** limited to the tank farm). Right is the Shahran fuel depot (unclear how much damage).

@khalidkarim Reproduced the chart using sources below. Nonetheless I get your point, Malaysians consume too much rice! Almost twice the per capita consumption of Japan...

@khalidkarim Source? The number seems impossible..how can anyone consume more than 35000kg of rice per annum unless there is some trade going on? According to Bernas, Malaysia annual per capita consumption is 80kg.
