The chilling effect of this outrageous persecution of a laywer for giving advice to his client — the President — cannot be overstated.

It's hilarious how seemingly upset you are over this, based on your vitriolic insults. What he lied about: The court found Eastman knowingly pushed claims of widespread election fraud despite having no credible evidence to support them. Most damning: Eastman himself admitted under oath during the bar proceedings that he knew of no significant ballot fraud that would have justified challenging the election results. He was pushing claims in court that he privately knew were false. He also relied on statistical analyses that were flatly absurd on their face, including one claiming there was a one quadrillion to the fourth power chance that Biden could have won four states that Clinton lost in 2016. A lawyer has a duty to actually investigate the evidence he submits to a court. He didn't. The court called that grossly negligent at minimum. Where he said it: It wasn't one court. He filed frivolous lawsuits in multiple states seeking to throw out certified election results. He made false representations in court filings and legal memoranda submitted to federal and state judges. He made false statements directly to Vice President Pence and Pence's legal counsel in private meetings. He made false public statements to legislators in battleground states to pressure them to submit fake electoral slates. He made false statements to the American public. Evidence presented by the House January 6th committee showed that Eastman himself acknowledged privately that his plan for Pence to reject the electors was not legal and pushed for it anyway. Days after January 6th he contacted Rudy Giuliani asking to be included on Trump's pardon list. That's not the behavior of someone who thought he was giving legitimate legal advice. The "he was just giving legal advice" crowd is counting on people not knowing that he admitted in his own sworn testimony that he had no evidence for the fraud claims he was putting in front of judges. When you file things in court you know to be false, that stopped being legal advice the moment you signed the document.

@HarmeetKDhillon He wasn't disbarred for giving legal advice. He was disbarred for giving lies to courts under oath. Last I checked, that's not legal advice. That's just fraud with a law degree stapled to it.

@informedviewer @robertgraham In this case, when the case was brought to the supreme court in California they had obtained correspondence between Eastman and his team discussing the fact that they knew were false. It's one thing to put in testimony from a bad source, it's another to knowingly lie in court.

Eastman lied about a lot of things. For example, in Georgia, he claimed there were more votes cast than there were voters. This is statement of fact, that was false, and hence a lie. He signed such lies in filings with the court. Hence, he was disbarred. In Bush v. Gore, you cannot find similar examples of lawyers filing documents that were full of lies.

This is a travesty. John represented the President in litigation challenging an election. That’s all. He lied about nothing. Reasonable minds can disagree about the 2020 election. He did what lawyers are supposed to do — represent disfavored individuals. And make no mistake, the elites, especially in bar apparatuses, disfavor and hate President Trump and anyone associated with him with a burning passion. No one representing Vice President Gore was disbarred for losing Bush v. Gore where the whole partial county-specific recount strategy Democrat lawyers devised there was ruled an unconstitutional violation of equal protection. Pray for John and his family and that John will speedily take his case to the U.S. Supreme Court and that they will grant cert and reverse this absolute nonsense.

The Arizona Republic failed its journalist duty to inform the people of Arizona. Many outlets are reaching out to people knowing that the official “paper of record” is a propaganda arm hiding and covering for Democrats. Pathetic. Luckily they won’t be in business much longer.

Your tweet doesn’t make a lot of literal sense and so I may not be following it correctly. But I think what you’re trying to say is that the U.S. Supreme Court here can’t reverse the California Supreme Court. If so, you’re wrong. The U.S. Supreme Court is the final authority and last word on questions of the United States Constitution, as well as on any federal law issues. Here, for example, Eastman presented a First Amendment defense. If the federal Supreme Court agrees, the California court decisions must fall.

Trump’s approval rating is 34%. Let that number sink in. Lower than Jimmy Carter at his lowest point. As low as Herbert Hoover in the middle of the Great Depression before he got ousted. He campaigned on ending wars in the Middle East. We have a new war in the Middle East. He campaigned on lowering prices. Prices are up across the board: energy, tariffs, everything. And the same people who were with him when he said he wouldn’t do it are still with him now that he’s doing it. Here’s the real question: Does he care about any of this? I would submit to everybody — he does not. He’s entered the nihilistic stage of his political career. The polls don’t matter. The people don’t matter. The consequences don’t matter. That is the most dangerous version of this man. And that’s exactly where we are.
