It is surprising, but my guess is that it's not because they like Putin per se, but because they hate the high-handed smugness of the left establishment so much. I.e. this is a reaction in the purest sense.

This is what it is, there is nothing else no matter how it gets characterized: Political Update a16zers, I wanted to give you an update on my political activity. As I mentioned before, Felicia and I have known Vice President Harris for over 10 years and she has been a great friend to both of us during that time. She’s also been a friend to the firm in our early days, helping with several events at my house when we built the original Cultural Leadership Fund network. As a result of our friendship, Felicia and I will be making a significant donation to entities who support the Harris Walz campaign. From a firm perspective, we continue to only take positions consistent with our Little Tech Agenda and how the various candidates that support or don’t support policies to build a strong startup technology industry. Although I have had several conversations with Vice President Harris and her team on their likely tech policies and am encouraged by my belief in her, they have not yet stated what their tech policy will be, so the firm will not be updating its position in that regard. As we stated earlier, the Biden Administration has been exceptionally destructive on tech policy across the industry, but especially as it relates to Crypto/Blockchain and AI. So, while I am very hopeful that the Harris Administration will be much better, they have not yet stated their intentions. Ben

@APompliano That may be true, but Bitcoin was supposed to be protection from global Central Bank policies. To date it has not been.

This is surreal. The leading Presidential candidate is explicitly saying he will make America the leader in bitcoin & crypto, while supporting the right to self-custody. All the critics were wrong. The government won’t ban it, they’re embracing it.

@balajis Once Bitcoin got a reference to USD for price discovery it went from being a hedge against inflation to any other asset class at the mercy of the Fed's rate policy, defeating the purpose for which it was originally intended.

The Fed is unpredictable monetary policy. Bitcoin is predictable monetary policy.

Here's a strange thought: AI could make people more vindictive. After a few years I tend to forget bad things people have done to me. If everyone had an AI assistant, it would always remember for them.

Biden is far too old to run for office (go @deanbphillips!), we all agree… … but when Americans ask themselves if they are better off now than under the previous administration the answer for most will be “heck yes!” Historically low unemployment, rising wages, stock market records and plummeting inflation is a heck of a setup for dems x.com/acyn/status/17…

In fact 11 yo got onto the A team mostly by his own efforts. But we have to pay 14 yo anyway. He has a knack for sensing the value of options that are out of the money, and it would be unfair to cheat him out of the returns.

Jessica wanted 14 yo to give 11 yo some rugby training. She offered him a prize if he could get 11 yo onto the school's B team. 14 yo asked what she'd pay if he got him onto the A team. Jessica, thinking this would never happen, offered a huge sum. 11 yo is now on the A team.
