@0xBlockBooster Cost per token is falling, but demand per workflow is exploding.

If AI keeps getting cheaper, why are companies using it to spend more than ever? When the cost of execution decreases, something else becomes limited. The obvious answers are labor and capital. However, the real solution is access to frontier models and the tokens that power them. Over the past three years, costs per million tokens have dropped from $20 to $0.40. That’s a 98% decrease. Regardless, enterprise AI expenses remain high. The transition from single-turn conversations to agentic workflows has significantly increased token usage, with a single multi-agent task often consuming 500,000 tokens. As a result, increased volume has outpaced price reductions. For many companies, AI is shifting from a productivity tool to one of the largest items in their budgets. The pressure doesn't stop at the application layer. As token consumption increases, demand rises for GPUs, semiconductor equipment, and wafer fabrication capacity. Even a modest increase in API calls at the product level leads to significant orders and capacity expansions throughout the supply chain. Profits from AI will not remain limited to model companies and chip manufacturers but will be distributed across the entire stack. Access to the most capable models is becoming increasingly limited. These are two different markets, and most people watch only one of them.
