@PatGarofalo Perhaps, but if they work 5 days a week for 8 hour shifts at $16 hour is $34,049. Quick AI query says in Minneapolis, between $10 to $18 an hour average tip, so $16 an hour plus high of $18, still at $71K for highest earner. Maybe they deserve the wage?

Jason - this is an excellent data point. Just think of the costs when you factor in the paid leave and sick time mandates, sky high property taxes and that employers pay payroll taxes on employee tips. Keep in mind this is not an accident. The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) are opposed to tipped employee models. They don't view the destruction of tipped jobs as a problem. They view it as a feature. This is deliberate, not an accident.

I made a chart in my newsletter looking at minimum wage in an all-day restaurant with 10 servers x 12 shifts x 365 days a year - just shows how things add up.

@PatGarofalo In my experience, there is an advantage to reach out to a candidate to say, I'm an uncommitted delegate and I want to know your position on .... Delegates might be leveraging the process.

@JamesWardenMN @jpcoolican Not a scientific survey, but I did use a catalog from South Dakota, which I assume is similar to this campaign, during the pandemic to plan a trip. I feel like the more information out there the more people will plan a trip. The ROI would be hard to measure, not one hit but exp.

@jpcoolican I just don’t get how there’s positive ROI on this. Are people actually making vacation decisions based on these campaigns? I personally can’t imagine it — certainly not enough to generate enough additional spend to break even on a $57.5M campaign.

I don't get the special pleading of this one industry. We would never wring our hands about whether we're doing enough for our frozen pizza industry, or whether people are buying enough frozen pizzas. startribune.com/could-minnesot…

Anyone got good musical alternatives to the Zombies franchise on @DisneyPlus ? 5yo is watching them on repeat. Wife and I are doing. We tried Descendants, but they didn’t grab him as much.

< wife and I after signing our 4yo up for soccer > Her: I don’t think they play real games. Teams only have 6 kids. Me: How many players does a team normally have? Is that low? Her: We should probably learn something about soccer. < Google tells me there are 11 players. >

I've been reading a bunch lately and really enjoying it. Caste, Code Red, Becoming, Vanishing Adult (did not enjoy), & Deaths of Despair. Looking for some book suggestions from a Conservative, non-Trumpian perspective to help shed light on what is going on today politically. TY!!
