I am confused… Isn’t the redistricting only for the 7 congressional seats? My understanding is the current debate is for South Carolina’s 7 congressional districts and is about the state’s seats in the U.S. House of Representatives only. How does this affect 40 candidates? This is not redrawing the seats /districts for the house and senate seats that serve in Columbia. Or am I wrong?

🚨South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee PASSES Redistricting! This 7-0 Republican map likely ousts Jim Clyburn. It now heads to the Senate floor! What’s next⁉️ To pass it in time, the Senate MUST expedite the process and work around filibuster (deadline when early voting begins is this Tuesday, May 26). To do that they either must— 1. Set the bill for special order (like the House did), or 2. Cloture (but Cloture cannot be invoked until a bill has been debated for 3 days!) Special order is the best option, but can only be done by the Majority Leader or the Rules Committee. Unfortunately, Shane Massey is both Majority Leader AND Rules Chairman. This is why I pushed for the senators to remove Massey as their Majority Leader for the past 2 weeks. They did not.
