BRITAIN IS BROKEN 🇬🇧
BRITAIN IS BROKEN 🇬🇧@BROKENBRITAIN0·
🚨NEW: It has been revealed that almost HALF of all NHS hospital trusts are using “non-doctors” to fill doctors roles! 🇬🇧 They are using under qualified staff to fill in “rota gaps”, with the doctors union describing the move as a “potential disaster” The advanced practitioners, AKA physician associates, offer one from a background of paramedics or nursing, however, the BMA has said bosses are going TOO FAR - pushing the staff way beyond their training ⚠️ This genuinely sounds like a disaster waiting to happen 😬

I fear this might be my most controversial take ever, but I agreed to put it to a vote so here we are. Hoodies should only be worn by men young enough not to look silly carrying a skateboard.

@RobLaurensonD4P So are you saying that the RCGP pay their examiners for their time but the other college examiners class it as work so it’s paid via their trust? If you are that’s not right either, most examiners I know take AL to do it.

@ICMdoc This was an explanation given to RCGP council for part of the cost of running MRCGP SCA. It was explained that RCGP has a different funding mechanism.

Wow. The NHS pays for examiners for secondary care specialty postgraduate exams. But not for GPs. GP registrars fork out.

@Microbedoc2 I presume the first one was more polite? There has to be some response for those who don’t engage, and I guess it’s hard (& possibly unnecessary?) to dress that up with flowers and ribbons? 🤷‍♂️ As an aside … I’m guessing you’ve sorted it, so it achieved what they wanted? 😉

GMC emails need really work on their tone. The second email reminder about updating designated body does not need to be a threat that in 30 days will begin process of revoking my license. Stop being so melodramatic.

The BMA
The BMA@TheBMA·
Resident doctors in Scotland have voted overwhelmingly to accept the latest pay offer. Increasing pay by 10% this year and 9.4% next year. This is an important step forward, but years of pay erosion mean the journey isn’t over. The BMA in Scotland will keep pushing for full pay restoration to protect Scotland’s NHS and the patients who rely on it. bma.org.uk/news-and-opini…

Fucking prick My son spent 6 months in Iraq, and then two 7 month tours of Afghanistan with the Royal Marines He fought hard in Sangin saw friends die, or be maimed. He bears scars of his own, and he did it because the USA triggered article 5 Risible, amoral fucking bastard

Trump on NATO: "I've always said, will they be there if we ever needed them? That's really the ultimate test. I'm not sure of that. We've never needed them. They'll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and this or that. And they did. They stayed a little back, off the front lines."

Fun fact: Did you know that fully qualified F1 doctors in Plymouth hospitals (after completing a solid 5–6 years at medical school) are forced to: work as receptionists in the Obs and Gynae department and call patients to inform them that they have been booked for a Caesarean section on a said date, and discuss alternative dates? They also maintain this list and receive calls from patients. The nurses there feel that this is not their job. This is how your doctors are being utilised in the NHS.

@campbellclaret @RoryStewartUK @RestIsPolitics I’ve sent this Q before … Is Streeting’s language appropriate? He is of course in dispute but it is with a workforce that he needs going forward, so perhaps a bit more agreeable disagreement and respect might be in order?
