Deeply pained to hear the loss of lives due to the collapse of a wall in Sangli, Maharashtra. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this sad hour. May the injured recover at the earliest: PM @narendramodi

In 49 seats in Bengal, under-adjudication voters exceeded win margins.
This assume significance in view of Justice Joymalya Bagchi's observation that if no. of deleted voters was higher than margins, the court would have to apply its mind. @OishaniB_

#WATCH | Cruise boat capsize in Jabalpur | Cruise Pilot Mahesh Patel says, "...When I left, there was no thunderstorm; it was just a little windy. When it was time for us to return, the winds grew stronger. So, life jackets was provided to everyone. Suddenly, the winds grew even stronger. We thought of anchoring the boat to the shore but it could not be done, however hard we tried due to the wind. Life jackets were given to everyone, but there were a few people who were dancing, and they had not worn the jackets...Suddenly, water filled the boat, and I could not anchor it on any shore, ultimately it capsized. We were 50-60 metres from the shore. I have not been able to eat anything for the past 3 days; those scenes keep playing before my eyes...I am unable to sleep. I keep regretting it. I pray to God that nobody has to face this...Maintenance of the cruise boat is done every Monday..."
When asked about the weather alert around the time of the incident, he says, "I could not get information about the weather...My boat did not collide with anything; I tried to do everything I could..."

@san_x_m Is there any country in the world where a government persecutes 14% of its own citizens just to appease its vote bank? @USCIRF @AJEnglish

His name is Mohammad Aamir Khan.
On the night of February 20, 1998, his mother asked him to buy medicines from a shop in Old Delhi. He was 18 years old.
He never made it to the shop.
Men in plain clothes stopped him on the street. He did not know they were police officers. They took him to an abandoned building. For seven days, he was held in illegal custody. He was tortured. He was forced to sign blank sheets of paper.
Then the Delhi Police Special Cell produced him in court and charged him with 19 counts of bombing across Delhi, Ghaziabad, Rohtak and Sonepat between December 1996 and October 1997.
He was presented to the media as a terrorist.
His family was never informed. They spent days searching police stations before finding out what had happened.
He spent 14 years in prison. Through torture. Through solitary confinement. He watched case after case fall apart in court as evidence was shown to be fabricated.
In 2012, he was acquitted in 17 of 19 cases. Two cases remain pending. He had already served more time in jail than the maximum sentence he could have received even if convicted on all charges.
He walked out of prison in January 2012.
His father had died while he was inside. His mother had suffered a stroke so severe she no longer recognised him when he walked through the door.
The National Human Rights Commission directed the Delhi government to pay him compensation.
The amount was Rs 5 lakh.
No officer from the Delhi Police Special Cell was charged. No one was suspended. No inquiry was ordered.
He wrote a book about what was done to him. He called it Framed As A Terrorist. My 14 Year Struggle To Prove My Innocence.
He now helps other wrongfully accused prisoners navigate the system that destroyed him.
India gave him Rs 5 lakh and called it justice.
Follow for real stories India never makes headlines about.

Hon' ble Mr Prime Minister,
Pained to ask: is this the way how you describe the meritorious students of the esteemed Jadavpur University? Is this your concept of decorum and courtesy? Jadavpur University has been receiving top ranks from your Government’s NIRF ranking framework year after year, and you descend to insult that centre of excellence? You stoop so low?
The students of the Jadavpur University have earned their place through merit and walk out with degrees, with intellect, with the ability to question. That is not anarchy. That is education and that is excellence.
Anarchy is not students raising their voices.
Anarchy is using bulldozers as instruments of power instead of justice.
Anarchy is when farmers die and their voices are crushed.
Anarchy is when those convicted of rape and other heinous crimes walk free for political convenience.
Anarchy is denying the poor their rightful dues.
Anarchy is dividing a nation along religious lines for votes.
Anarchy is refusing to face the press, refusing accountability, refusing questions.
Anarchy is refusing to acknowledge that Manipur is burning but you are busy with elections.
Students protesting do not constitute a breakdown of democracy - it is democracy in motion.
Please do not defame the educational institution which was inspired by our early nationalists including Sri Aurobindo as a pioneer. Please do not defame Bengal.

Listen to this extremist— Uttar Pradesh’s 🇮🇳 chief minister Yogi says in his election speeches that “Land of Bengal” should not become “Land of Kaaba.”
This “provocative linkage” isn’t an argument; it’s a rhetorical tactic. It turns a sacred religious symbol into a political “outcome” to be feared, and implies that Muslim identity does not belong in a certain region.
That’s how exclusion is wrapped up as nationalism: by collapsing religion into a threat narrative instead of addressing real policies.
