Whatever happens with leadership there is some important legislation announced here… What was going to be the Dynamic alignment Bill is now the European Partnership Bill - will provide the legal mechanism for alignment of existing Brexit reset negotiation over food, electricty and emissions trading deals, but also provide a mechanism for any future alignment with Single Market that has been heavily signalled by PM and Chancellor. Upside is sectoral frictionless trade in these areas, at the cost of regulatory autonomy in these sectors. Will be significant political fault line… Would expect direction of travel in any leadership contest, appealing to MPs and membership to go towards even further alignment.

Please can we end this fashion for reporters shouting out questions to politicians arriving at/leaving 10 Downing Street. We all know that no-one is going to stop for an impromptu chat in which they reveal their true intentions. Expected better from the likes of Chris Mason.

Extraordinary allegations from @benhabib6 !! Ben Habib alleges that Nigel Farage & Boris Johnson were paid £1m each by Christopher Harborne to essentially rig the election in favour of Johnson. He also claims the undeclared £5m "gift" Farage received in 2024 from Harborne was payment for Farage to take over as party leader of Reform UK and stand in Clacton.

Zack Polanski and his partner called their narrowboat their “amazing home” for three years. He registered to vote there. If it was his main residence, council tax was due. None was paid. His team says he stayed there only “occasionally” - if true, there's a very big problem.

@saminbelize @JamiemArch2017 @DanNeidle Who buys cars for people with anxiety? I have a relative in a care home. It costs the local authority (Worcestershire) £650k+ a year for 26 residents. A quarter of the county is 65 or over. That's where your money is going for starters. Then other care, education, highways......
