For one, at face value you could make this same argument about caffeine or nicotine. Nobody cares that people use either of those, or alcohol for that matter as long as the user isn’t negatively affecting others. Secondly, what is your suggestion? Prohibition? We’ve seen how that plays out already. Not even a tangent worth discussing imo. Third, is it not considerably more important to think about why people are resorting to escapism? Is weed really just that addictive, or do we have such severe problems that people feel the need to regularly escape reality?
