Salazar, the Court held that the 2019 law, which prohibited licensed therapists from engaging in talk therapy aimed at changing a minor’s sexual orientation or gender identity, violates the First Amendment by regulating speech based on viewpoint. Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote the majority opinion, joined by Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Thomas, Alito, Sotomayor, Kagan, Kavanaugh, and Barrett. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented.
