The Supreme Court has engaged in an ugly recidivism that has marked the fastest rollback of Black political rights since Reconstruction. 18 year terms limits on Justices now. Expand the court from 9 to 13 Justices now.

You left out the parts that matters: 1.6M Virginians voted on ballot language a court had already called "misleading". Then the VA Supreme Court found Democrats violated Article XII by shoving the amendment onto the ballot after early voting had already started. Justice Kelsey said the violation “irreparably undermines the integrity” of the vote and made it “null and void.” So, stop crying “voter suppression.” You used deceptive language, broke the constitutional process, got caught trying to cheat, and now you’re trying to sell a clean legal defeat as an attack on democracy. That’s not spin. That’s Special Olympic-Gold medal mental gymnastics.

1.6 million Virginians voted to level the playing field by voting yes on redistricting, because they know the stakes. We will take that same urgency into the ballot box this November and mobilize, organize, and vote to protect our progress. More with @RyanNobles. 📺

So, let me get this straight: your preferred outcome got blocked by the Virginia Supreme Court because they wouldn’t let you Democrats cheat, so now the entire VA government must be abolished or radically reformed? You’re openly quoting the right to revolt and provoking a game of Cowboys and Communists just because you lost fair and square?

Hate to break it to you but this is exactly the narcissism and mental fragility that defines so much of the modern left. You're just not that important. Without the endless leftist outrage machine, we'd simply have normal government, secure borders, functioning cities, and people living their daily lives like you never existed… except maybe as the punchline in a crude joke. I long for the day I can log into X and it doesn’t look like a group therapy session for unhinged leftists processing their latest existential meltdown.

Meet Shomari Figures, Congressman from Alabama. His parents fought for civil rights. This Supreme Court is allowing Alabama to use an old map (without Figures’s district) that had been found discriminatory before Callais. Democracy without representation is not democracy.

It would be great if a couple of prominent Republicans were like "this shit has gone too far. Let's clarify in a new Voting Rights Act that the old standards for racial discrimination in elections still apply, and let's do something nationally about partisan redstricting.

Last thing for tonight on redistricting: Even if you think that each of these decisions is legally correct on the merits (which I don't), the effect of all of this is that black representation in the South will be returning to pre-Civil Rights levels, and also there's a stronger chance that the true democratic will of the electorate will be suppressed. That equilibrium is morally bad and also seems to me to be unsustainable in the long-run, and might drive us to some really dark places. I'm actually not one of those "we have to pack the courts and make DC a State" guys, because I think ultimately an endless tit for tat is bad for everyone. But on the other hand, Republicans are benefitting so much from the way the system is set up now, that they will cling on to and protect this status quo until the system turns against them. It would be great if they agreed to a bipartisan set of playing conditions at a national level, but they won't as long as they keep winning all of these cases.

Oh Ro, you’re doing what Dems always do when they’re losing an argument: drag slavery, the Civil War, and Black voters onto the stage as human shields for a Democrat seat. South Carolina is not “denying a Black person the chance to serve in Congress.” That is a lie. Nobody is banned from running. Nobody is banned from voting. Democrats are crying about the possible loss of Jim Clyburn’s taxpayer-funded retirement district because they’re afraid to compete without a cheat to fall back on. This isn’t a “moral battleground.” It’s partisan gerrymandering, and old lying Ro knows it. Republicans are trying to turn a 6–1 GOP delegation into 7–0 in a deep-red state, and Democrats do the exact same thing when they have the power. They only discover “democracy” when their own rigged seats get touched. Spare us the Charleston slave-port sermon. Slavery does not give the modern Democrat Party a deed to a congressional district. The Civil War does not entitle Clyburn to a lifetime safe seat just because he is Black. Black voters are not your political property. They are citizens, not hostages in a Democrat race-based district-preservation scheme. SCOTUS already slapped down the racial-gerrymandering claim against South Carolina’s map because Democrats failed to prove race, rather than politics, drove the lines. So your post isnt analysis. It’s emotional blackmail. Translation: “Our race-based power structure might get broken, so let’s scream Civil War and call it morality.” Pathetic.

South Carolina, where the first shot of the civil war was fired, where 40 percent of those enslaved came through the Charleston port, is today engaged in an ugly recidivism to draw maps that will deny a Black person the chance to serve in Congress. The stakes could not be higher. Our political fight is not on a playground, but a moral battleground. We must stand for Black representation across the South.

One-third of Louisianans are Black. Yet, since Reconstruction, LA has never elected a Black person statewide & has had only 4 Black Congressmen. But LA Governor Jeff Landry just told @60Minutes: “I want LA to be finally unshackled from decades of litigation.” Yes, he said that.

🥱 Sure. Both of your screenshots are self-own's. 1) Clerk merger: Orleans was the only one of 64 parishes with separate civil and criminal clerks. Landry merged them for efficiency. Duncan won one race, so they consolidated offices. Local political office mergers isn't proof of statewide racial voter suppression or that Black candidates/voters can’t win elections. 2) The “snake map” take is even worse. Landry’s legislature drew that non-compact district to create a second majority-Black seat after a federal court said the old map likely violated VRA §2. SCOTUS struck SB8 down 6-3 in Louisiana v. Callais as an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. 3) The original complaint was basically: LA is roughly 1/3 Black, so it “should” have more Black officials. That’s not how elections work. There are no guaranteed seats by skin color. SCOTUS made the point clear: equal opportunity doesn’t mean racial quotas. No more snakes. No more identity math. Try again.

You’re not “exposing lies.” You’re too lazy to read the actual court record. SB8, the “snake map,” was passed after a federal court ruled the old map likely violated VRA §2. Louisiana drew the 2nd Black district to avoid a judge drawing an even worse one. Politics happened, but the trigger was the court order — not “Graves revenge” even if it was politics aren't unconstitutional. Your biggest failure: Louisiana did NOT sue its own map. Non-Black voters sued in Callais v. Landry. The state defended SB8 all the way to SCOTUS. SCOTUS struck it down 6-3 because VRA §2 did NOT require a 2nd majority-Black district. You got who-sued-whom completely backwards. That’s not me lying. That’s you being too stupid and lazy to read.

Lmao try harder. Census 2024-25: Alabama +23k (beat Florida), NC +84k, SC +66k, TN +42k. Red states gained hundreds of thousands net while CA/NY/IL bleed out. They’re fleeing your blue shitholes to live in suburbs of red states. U-Haul franchises seem to be a lucrative investment if you live in the northern shithole . 😂

Louisiana Gov. Landry on the ballots from the election he cancelled: “Those ballots are discarded… if anyone has a grievance, take it to the Supreme Court.” The Supreme Court he believes they own. He declared a fake emergency to stop a live election. To strip Black voters of representation. To protect Trump. And his answer to anyone who objects is: go to court. The court we packed.

Then why do millions of you Yankees leftists trash flee actual Democrat-run shit holes (that you helped to create) to live in Red/Southern states that you label "confederate hick shit states"? The weather is better for your asthma right? Then you vote to import the same failed leftist policies and scream "racism" when states actually follow the Constitution and your side cant cheat. SCOTUS ruled 6-3 Louisiana’s map was an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. You flee blue failures like refugees, then demand racial engineering in red states to guarantee safe blue seats in black districts for old white Democrats. Peak hypocrisy.

This is what happens when you use leftist propaganda as primary source material: loud accusations, zero facts. Yes, Republicans created the second majority-Black district. SB8 came after years of VRA litigation and a lower court ruling saying Louisiana’s old map likely violated Section 2 because it lacked another majority-Black district. That alone destroys the “plot to erase Black voters” narrative. The Graves angle only explains which Republican seat got sacrificed. AP reported the new map dismantled Graves’ district and turned it into the state’s second majority-Black district. Sorry but political motives arent unconstitutional racial gerrymandering is. The meme’s core claim is still a lie: Landry did not “sue his own map.” Callais was filed by 12 plaintiffs challenging SB8 under Equal Protection because race controlled the drawing of District 6. SCOTUS held the VRA did not require Louisiana to create another majority-minority district, so SB8 had no compelling interest and no legal cover. Translation: Louisiana drew a race-based map under VRA pressure and lower court order, sacrificed Graves in the process, and the Court said it went too far. That’s not voter suppression, that’s an unconstitutional race-carved map getting killed.

Lmfao, “both parties are agents of white supremacy” typical smooth brain perpetual victim logic. Democrats pack Black voters like livestock to prop up old white Democrats but its somehow "both parties". Spirit’s dead, but there are plenty of other ways for you to get the fuck out if you're such victims.
