A little bittersweet news drop this afternoon... Today marks my last day full time at Proof of Play and a transition into a strategic advisory role. It hasn't been a particularly long stay here, but I've really enjoyed my time and I love the people at Proof of Play. They are truly some of the most talented and driven people I’ve ever gotten to work with. I imagine the big question from everyone would be: Why? The blunt truth is that I was headhunted, and the offer was too good to turn down. I wasn't looking for a change but I took a friendly call that went in an unexpected direction. You guys know that the whole reason I do what I do is to be able to take care of my family, and the opportunity that presented itself was something that was impossible to turn down. I struggled with the decision a lot because of how much I've enjoyed working at PoP and how much potential I think the current product pipeline has to grow. The Marketplace API technology has wide ranging uses beyond gaming to onboard and offboard millions into crypto seamlessly and the new mobile game looks great. I've grown more in my short stint here than I thought possible. With all that in mind, we landed on a continuing advisory capacity as I transition into my new job (more details on that soon). I want to thank Amitt and Adam for welcoming me in for the time I got to spend at the company. Crypto Twitter is a Roman bathhouse. When women walk in, the default negative assumption is either: A. You’re a distraction, or B. You’re out of place. Let’s zoom out for context: women couldn’t even legally have a credit card in their own name until 1976. We’re barely 50 years into mainstream finance. DeFi is even more cutthroat, dog-eat-dog, no hand-holding, and no warm welcomes. To be harsh about it there are two paths for women on CT: Path 1: The Thirst Trap Door If you’re hot, you can bypass the gate. Being an “asset” gets you instant access… but it also comes with backlash. A lot of men don’t want thirst traps in their money-making playground. To them, you’re not adding value, you’re distracting them from power, skill-building, and financial freedom. Distraction IS THE ENEMY. Path 2: The Based Girl Door If you don’t want to leverage looks, your other option is proving you belong. But that’s a big uphill climb. You need skills, power, money …and you have to earn stripes in smaller rooms before you get recognition in bigger ones. Even then, it’s not instant. Acceptance comes in waves. You have to prove you’re not a distraction and that you contribute to the ecosystem in a way that helps others win. You not only have to be a winner you have to win LOUDLY. Crypto Twitter isn’t just male-dominated… it’s a warzone. Most men can’t even survive here, let alone women who are still fighting historic headwinds. Will we eventually see a woman on a “CT Top Accounts” list? Absolutely. But it’s not today. The reality of now? Anytime a woman gets recognition, the viral response is usually minimization attacking her looks, credibility, or positioning her as an “enemy.” I’m not here to argue right or wrong. This is just the reality I’ve observed. Catch me in smaller rooms turning haters into fans. Don’t like it? You may not be built to stay then. It is the way it is.
