I sent a Google Director of Engineering role to a few friends to get insight on it. It was meant to help another friend who is job hunting, but a couple of my friends thought I could do the job and should apply. While I know I wouldn’t be able to land the role (especially in this economy), I realized my mom isn’t the only one who consistently hypes me up for mildly nutso side quests 😂

@engineering_bae I get this compliment too and it means more than anything else.

One of my favorite compliments to receive always comes from people who have known me for years. The compliment doesn’t center around how smart or swole I am. It doesn’t focus on how accomplished I am. It’s always a compliment that has to do with me consistently being “me”. Which can encompass a lot, but it’s always some flavor of being true to myself, my values, and my morals no matter what I’m facing. In a world where many people seem to have no consistent and genuine values, it reminds me the people I value most notice me at least trying to stand for something good.

Mum rested two months ago today. In the journey of grief, I am realising how much some things that used to bother me in life, have less and less hold over me. As if she's reminding me to (re)align with what is really important & what I am on earth for. I hope to not forget that.
