Take away, O my Jesus, the blindness of my heart, that I may know Thee; take away the hardness of my heart, that I may fear Thee; take away the coldness of my heart, that I may resist everything that is contrary to Thy will; take away its heavy, earthly sluggishness and selfishness, that I may be capable of heroic sacrifice for Thy glory, and for the souls whom Thou has redeemed with Thy own most precious blood. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on me a sinner.

Early Release! For scholars and students interested in tracing the doctrine of Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA) within early Christian theology, a dedicated volume is now available that examines its foundational presence in Patristic thought and its subsequent development. The work opens with an overview of the core theological concepts, followed by an analysis of their reception and elaboration across the Latin, Byzantine, and Reformed traditions—from the medieval period through the Reformation and into post-Reformation theology. The central section of the volume provides a comprehensive and systematic analysis of more than thirty Church Fathers, drawing directly from primary sources to identify and elucidate the presence, as well as the subtleties and variations, of substitutionary and penal motifs within their respective soteriological frameworks. This examination deliberately transcends a mere florilegium of isolated Patristic quotations. Particular emphasis is placed on situating each Father's statements within their exegetical context, attending closely to the author's explicit rationale and conceptual development. In so doing, the study consciously avoids the word-concept fallacy—the exegetical error of equating the presence or absence of specific terminology with the presence or absence of the underlying theological concept itself—thereby ensuring a more nuanced and defensible interpretation of the sources for those readers who are more conscious of such mistakes. It is available in Hardback, Paperback, and Kindle versions. God bless! amazon.com/dp/B0GT918JN4/…

St. Thomas Aquinas on extrasacramental reception of the graces of Baptism. Quodlibet VI Q3 Article 1 (pg 316) “No one can be liberated from the damnation of the human race incurred for the sin of our first parent except by being incorporated into Christ like a member into its head, since he alone is free of that damnation. Now, this incorporation can happen in three ways: 1. By receiving baptism. (Galatians 3) 2. By shedding blood for Christ’s sake that conforms a person to Christ’s passion, which is where baptism gets its power - Rev 7) 3. By faith and love. - Proverbs 15: “By mercy and faith sins are cleansed” - Acts 15: “He cleansed their hearts by faith.” - Ephesians 3: “Christ dwells in our hears by faith Hence, baptism is called the sacrament of faith. Accordingly, there are three kinds of baptism: by water, by the spirit, and by blood. The latter two have the force of baptism by water, as long as one intends to receive such a baptism, and is only kept from doing so by necessity, and not by contempt for religion.”

Dismissive? Just disregard the evidence? You used Philo as evidence of the Hebrew canon. This what we DO know: Philo doesn't state explicitly what is and is not canon. We only know the books he quotes. By your assumption, should we conclude since he didn't quote from all books in the current Hebrew OT canon, he didn't believe these books weren't inspired? Used as scripture? And your use of Talmud. Again, I ask again, are you going to reject the NT? Are you under the Old Covenant or the New Covenant? You also have to contend with the following Christian Churches dating as far back as the 1st and 2nd centuries, to name a few but there's more, that include Deuterocanon books: Eastern Orthodox Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Coptic Orthodox of Alexandria Syrian Orthodox Armenian Apostolic Church It's a bit of stretch to state the Catholic Church added the Deuterocanon in Trent.

You sure you want to stake your entire argument on one historical figure? Because you’re going to have to deal with the entire New Testament referencing the Deuterocanon. I mean if you’re going to go by who’s quoting what… 🤷‍♂️ Jews determine canon - do you reject the NT books? Because it’s not only not in the Jewish canon, it’s outright rejected as NOT inspired. Let’s do this. Why don’t you go back and build a better case. And I ask again, which canon did you land on as inspired of the 10+ canons?

@InJeremiah @CatholicDrip___ Philo of Alexandria - new living in the city where the apocrypha was translated. Frequently quotes the Old Testament as Scripture. Never quotes the Deuterocanonical books as Scripture 🙃

You make a lot of assertions with no historical back up. You are aware of the Septuagint primarily used and referenced by the NT authors (many being Jewish) - including the Deuterocanon, the Essenes, the Samaritans, the large amount of “Biblical” literature contemporary to Jesus’ time. So which Jews are you referring to exactly? “Trust me bro” not a good comeback. What canon of the 10+ current Christian canons do you believe to be the right one?

@InJeremiah @CatholicDrip___ Word play. Affirmed them as the inspired word of God when they had never been considered that. The Jews wrote them, thay never saw them as that. Once again, you just "affirmed" them to teach heresy like purgatory and praying to the dead

It’s been amazing to watch God at work in my sister’s life, which we celebrate especially today, March 19, because on this day in 2023, she encountered the radical love of Christ in the Holy Eucharist (which she did not receive, but knew was Him in a mysterious way) at a Traditional Latin Mass. If you want to hear more of her incredible testimony, check out our podcast episode in which I interviewed her: Drugs, Suicide, LGBTQ+: My Sister’s Miraculous Conversion to the Faith (Nancy Charles) | Ep. 16 youtu.be/hb42E76TmgI?si…

Today on the feast day of St Joseph, marks the 3 year anniversary of the day God miraculously changed my life forever at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. From transgender to traditional Catholic. I’m not the same person. Gods greatness made evident in my weakness. ❤️‍🔥

Saying, “I believe in one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church,” but redefining every word doesn’t mean you actually affirm the creed. Catholics can profess the marks specifically as they were intended to be defined - and as they were explained by the fathers/those contemporaneous to promulgation of the creed. You can’t. It’s the same thing creedal baptists do when they redefine “one baptism for the forgiveness of sins” to mean “one baptism that doesn’t forgive your sins but only symbolizes the forgiveness you’ve already received.” It’s the same problem. You aren’t really AFFIRMING the creed, because you shift the meaning away from what those words were intended to convey by the fathers. You’re misappropriating it.

I believe "one, holy, catholic and apostolic church". That does not say I believe “the One Roman Catholic Church”.

But you have prerequisites for sharing the table. So your “everyone who has come in by the gate”, Catholicity has qualifications. Not everyone who professes to be Christian, believing in Christ as savior is allowed, but must have the trinitarian baptismal formula. It seems pretty exclusive still. Why is the baptismal formula the defining line and not just belief in Christ as savior?

@no2monkeypox @The_Catechumen I was attempting to understand your accusation. It seems you have certain qualifications to allow individuals to the table correct? Not anyone who professes to be Christian is invited but only those who have a trinitarian baptism. Yes?

@The_Catechumen My church is more coherently catholic than Rome's, since the table is open to anyone who's had a trinitarian baptism. Popes will affirm that non RC's are Christian in some sense but then deny them participation in the common Christian weekly experience.
