Germany has 39,000 Japanese citizens; only two of them were suspected of violent crimes in 2023. By contrast, out of 25,000 Algerians, 1,729 were suspected of committing a violent crime in 2023.

@Incisive1 Public charging can’t and never will be the same price as domestic charging, but be good to get the prices down.

Public EV charging could be about to get MUCH cheaper! A UK tax tribunal has ruled that public EV charging should attract the reduced 5% VAT rate, the same as domestic electricity This is instead of the standard 20% rate that drivers have been paying, which makes public charging more expensive. This decision overturns HMRC’s previous position, and could make charging at public charge points significantly more affordable for EV owners across the country.  The ruling interprets existing VAT law to extend the lower rate to EV charging where usage at a location remains under 1,000 kWh per month, a threshold most drivers won’t come close to hitting.  This isn’t just good news for everyday drivers, it may also help support investment in more community and local charging infrastructure, and push the transition to cleaner transport further and faster.  HMRC have the right to appeal the ruling, but let’s hope this it sticks, and soon makes UK public charging fairer and cheaper for everyone. Hit follow for daily EV content and updates 👍🏼
