It requires a complete overhaul of our cobbled-together system with costs most voters reject. This is why Universal Healthcare was so hard to pass in any form. And why the ACA should be celebrated for achieving the near-impossible instead of used to bash Dems, 20 years later.

In a word, no. Politics is about tradeoffs. Voters love the Public Option in theory but the moment you explain the tradeoffs of taxes and losing choice of Dr. etc., they have to make in order to make it happen, they don't want that.
