FLCA’s rise has baffled many labor policy experts because the bill copies almost verbatim binding arbitration language that Democrats tried and failed to pass using the filibuster-proof majority they briefly held in 2009. Why Are Republicans Looking To Pass Obama-Era Forced Unionization Bill? @FDRLST *The #FasterLaborContracts Act has reached enough votes to bypass Speaker Johnson. buff.ly/WKYdTJQ

Reject the Faster Labor Contracts Act! The FLCA would allow federal government-appointed arbitrators to set the terms of first contracts between unions and employers even if the parties don't agree on the terms.

The Department of Labor is formally rolling back its Biden-era overtime expansion following court rulings that blocked the rule. CEI’s Sean Higgins (@SeanGHiggins) says the decision restores clarity for workers and employers by allowing more flexibility in how pay and schedules are structured. cei.org/blog/dol-gets-…

Freedom Foundation researcher @MaxfordNelsen dug into the financials behind Randi Weingarten's book Why Fascists Fear Teachers — and the numbers are hard to believe. Over $400,000 to a ghostwriter. Nearly $1 million in legal review fees. All charged to AFT member dues. Teachers pay into their union expecting workplace support. What they got was an underwriting credit on someone else's political memoir.

BREAKING: Chicago Teachers Union members just rejected Stacy Davis Gates' push to hike union dues by $8.5 million. With 80% of votes counted, roughly 60% of members have voted no on the dues hike, according to the union. This is a stunning defeat for the political leadership that put Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson into office and has huge implications for Chicago Public Schools board races in November. Union leadership cited funding candidates in those school board races as the No. 1 reason for hiking dues, as well as covering legal fees associated with investigations from the Department of Labor and the IRS. Here is the official announcement on the vote from Gates and VP Jackson Potter.

NEW: The Chicago Teachers Union wants to hike dues by $8.5M — forcing teachers to pay up to $800 more/year. The first goal, according to the union’s own documents: buy a majority of Chicago school board seats this November. Even worse: They’re sneaking in a constitutional change to block members from suing the union over violations of their rights. On Thursday, the House advanced the misnamed “Railway Safety Act” in committee markup. CEI staff caution that the two-person crew requirement adds cost and slows rail modernization without demonstrated safety improvements, and that these costs would ultimately be felt by consumers. cei.org/news_releases/…
