@arvidkahl 224 characters, within limit. Running agents in prod for my bar (invoices, TPV, reviews) taught me the flip side: yes, codebases get hardened, but agents also make it trivial to rebuild the exact feature you used to pay a SaaS for. Quality up, moat down.

Overall, agentic engineering will improve overall codebase quality. People test now. They document. And while it’s easier to build a product now, existing codebases will also be hardened, optimized, and improved. So in the end, not too much of a threat for established SaaS.

@midudev Hand-coded skeleton loaders for our POS dashboard for months, this would've saved real time. Does it re-measure when the wrapped component's shape changes after data loads, or drift and cause layout shift like most auto skeletons do?

@GergelyOrosz I run a craft beer bar and put AI agents into real production — invoicing, TPV, reviews. Migrations read great in postmortems because the team already knows the fix; nobody blogs the three weeks where the new system silently under-reported numbers.

If you've been in tech for some time, this should be obvious: Every single "success story" about a rewrite/migration etc published on a company page is half-truth. The positives will all be true! But those posts will not share all or some key negatives (even ones people observed) "real" alternatives considered... and even if they did, they would not contain: The Incentives + Dynamics The internal, often unsaid incentives that help with faster career advancemement, the internal dynamics that are unique to a set of companies. And without understanding all of these, if you copy this "success story" inside your team/company with different incentives and dynamics, you'll be disappointed.

@AdityaShips rent a vps and ask your llm to create a python deploy script over ssh. I dont understand why people use vercel at all. I they give me 1 billion credit that never expires I wont still use it. A product with no moat and literally solves nothing.

@OfficialLoganK I run agent stacks in production for a real bar - invoices, reviews, marketing copy. The gap was never the model, it was clean labeled data from our own messy ops logs. Curating that internal signal beat every prompt tweak. What's your bar for "curated"?

it’s surprising to me how many people seem to not understand that great models are built with super high quality curated data finding novel ways to create / get this data is a huge edge

@levelsio Had this exact scare with the agents running my bar's POS in production — nearly reset the server before remembering `tailscale ping` exists. Turned out to be DNS on the node, not downtime. Now that's step one, saves a 3am heart attack every time.

Something that will eventually happen when you use Tailscale is You think your site is down, you try reach it over SSH, it doesn't work, you try open the site in your browser, it doesn't open, you're about to reset the server and think the worst! Then you think: let's try the Rescue console on Hetzner, you SSH in, and ask Claude Code what's going on And it tells you your Tailscale key for the server expired, because they automatically expire after 180 days (for safety) @DanielLockyer told me to always [ Disable key expiry ] for every server, but I forgot it for Interior AI, you kinda get locked out otherwise so important to disable this! You can do so in the @Tailscale console under [...] All good now!!

@arvidkahl I run a craft beer bar in Tenerife and my prod agents (invoicing, reviews, POS) don't have tests OR a spec, just my own review — that's my chaos ceiling. Curious: does the spec need to be human-written, or can an agent draft its own procedure doc first?

Setting up the agentic harness to be a) test-first, b) documentation-centric, and c) configured by a detailed operation procedure spec makes not looking at the code possible. Without any of these three, chaos reigns. But with them, code review becomes optional most of the time.

El agente contable del bar no obedece a ciegas. Si le piden falsear un número, avisa una vez y frena. La autoridad la tengo yo y la gestoría. Esa regla la puse porque el parser a veces truncaba el IGIC y preferí que me lo marcara antes que 'arreglarlo' solo. x
