Bank of Ireland and AIB have joined a consortium which plans to launch a euro-pegged cryptocurrency. The consortium aims to develop a euro-denominated stablecoin, which is a type of cryptocurrency whose value is pegged to another asset, like the euro. jrnl.ie/7045578

@davidmcw Best of luck with that thesis which has been continuously wrong since 2009. Crypto is finding its way and despite its growing pain volatility it has shown resilience through tokenomics and network consensus. Even traditional financial institutions can see this a mile away.

The only settled method to create digital property is via Proof-of-Work. Non-energy based crypto approaches like Proof-of-Stake must be deemed to be securities until proven otherwise. Banning digital property would be a trillion dollar mistake. coindesk.com/policy/2022/03…

Securities laws are outdated. Needing a license to issue a security token in 2021 is just as dumb as needing a licence to setup a website in 2001.
