@Type07Safety No, and I don’t know the answer but I don’t believe in letting the enemies of the state easy access to arms.

@ItsYaLukras Then you believe government grants rights and that they're not pre-existing and inalienable. If government gives you rights, what could go wrong?

Unpopular opinion: While I don't agree that illegal immigrants should be able to come here and have their children benefit from being born on US soil, I think the Supreme Court made a decision that is probably best in that case. No president should have the power to alter the meaning of constitutional amendments. If there is ambiguity, then it is the responsibility of Congress to ensure that the law is changed. We cannot afford to have a future President Newsom rule by executive order in a way that can alter our inalienable rights. Allowing Trump to be the arbiter of the 14th Amendment now may allow Newsom to be the arbiter of the 2nd later.

@Type07Safety I understand the point and that it’s unworkable as currently written, the idea that we allow the arming of those who won’t swear an oath to our constitution is a bit much. Other hand arming the government to deem certain people unable to have inalienable rights seems bad to.

This is the highest court to rule on the merits of our law, but the ban on weapons of war, high-capacity magazines, and rapid-fire devices has already led to record lows in gun violence and mass shootings. (2/4)

Four years after the Highland Park mass shooting, today’s decision of the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals confirmed that the Illinois assault weapon ban (the “Protect Illinois Communities Act”) is constitutional. chicago.suntimes.com/us-supreme-cou… (1/4)

The Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals issues ruling in gun ban case: Today's order: "We REVERSE the judgments of the district court, with costs, and we REMAND the cases with directions to enter judgments for the defendants, in accordance with the decision of this court entered on this date."

🚨#BREAKING: A 28-year-old confirms he has spent the last 10 YEARS of his life interviewing World War II combat veterans to keep their stories alive... ...in fact, for the last 10 years, he has interviewed World War 2 veterans EVERY SINGLE DAY He started as a teenager, ditching school to ride his BIKE to the local retirement home, walking up to the front desk and asking to, "meet some World War II heroes." His name is Rishi Sharma. He's crossed all 50 states and half the world. He's slept in his car and lived on gas-station food to afford it. He asks these men for hours of their memories, and then he hands the entire recording to their families... ...FOR FREE So that 200 years from now, a great-great-grandchild will know not just their hero's name, but how he laughed, how he cried, and what he sacrificed. Rishi has no military family, his parents immigrated here from India. He does it out of pure gratitude. In his words: "My parents were given the opportunity to immigrate and raise a family because of veterans like these. It's a debt of love I'll spend my entire life trying to repay..." As one 100-year-old Marine who stormed Iwo Jima told him, remembering the flag going up: "The hair on my arms still stands up when I think about how beautiful it was." THAT is America. 250 years of ordinary people doing extraordinary things... God bless our veterans. 🇺🇸🇺🇸

There's a certain segment of the pro-2A crowd that thinks gun groups are out to "get" them by milking endless lawsuits. While you should of course be smart in who you give your money to, this idea is conspiracist brainrot. I promise you, I live in California and would love nothing more to win our major lawsuits and be done with the question forever. It's also not as if there is big money in constitutional litigation anyway. Not even sure what this commenter is implying here...how can we do anything but react? We can't sue before a law exists, as we'd have no standing. If you want to prevent these laws from happening in the first place, win elections. Don't be mad at the groups trying to help you.

@conbradulations They killed Anderson (and Aero is about gone too) this year, they're trying to have a monopoly. When the only entry level and mid range options are poormetto garbage rods, you'll understand what I mean.

The bigger problem with PSA is that they bring the entire gun industry down as a whole. They'll continue to shit out subpar guns for ridiculously cheap prices and people will just buy them because they are cheap which forces other manufacturers to cut corners in order to compete

@RodinM3 @MorosKostas Because Duncan vs bonta is already in front of scotus and it wouldn’t make any difference. It would be starting from the bottom for zero reason and it would get stayed till other cases got decided. Gotta pick your battles

@MorosKostas Do you happen to have any info on if the Supreme Court will take up the completely unconstitutional (imo) “assault weapon and high capacity magazine bans”? Sorry not a law expert so a bunch of this stuff goes over my head!

They scream in terror that California saw a surge in magazines during freedom week, and they need to prevent that. But California could point to no harm that resulted from that! And they later admitted in a different oral argument (Sanchez v. Bonta I think) that none did. The fact that DC has banned magazines over ten rounds so long is a reason to NOT stay this ruling - that constitutional violation has persisted long enough.
Firearms Policy Coalition@gunpolicy

DC asks the court to take the case that struck down its magazine ban en banc without asking for a response, saying that the decision "causes immediate and severe risks to public safety" and "opens the floodgates for large-capacity magazines [] to surge into the District."
