Emily Dievendorf introduced a bill that supposedly enacts a pre-purchase licensing scheme in Michigan. 2 major problems: 1) The effective date for the bill is listed as being over 2 years ago 2) The pre-purchase licensing scheme IS NOT EVEN IN THE BILL LOOOOOL. Despite holding 9 carry permits and owning several firearms (all which were disclosed as part of the application process) the State of NJ has deemed me “to be lacking the essential character and temperament necessary to be entrusted with a firearm.” This determination was made in part based on “violent tendencies towards both law enforcement and the general public.” Which translates to “we saw your Twitter account and didn’t like what you posted.” It should be noted I wasn’t even applying for NJ CCW but a NJ FID, a license required to merely *purchase* a firearm from a NJ based FFL. This decision is obviously completely meritless both under Bruen and a rational basis analysis. I can’t think of a cleaner vehicle to get N.J.S. 2C:53-3C(5) ruled unconstitutional than my case. I'm officially back on the ballot for Michigan's 27th State House District. I lost in 2024. I'II say it plainly. But a setback isn't a stop sign- it's a test of character.
