@_BrettRyanMusic @UnseenPathways Prior to the rise of individualism in the 18th century I don’t think any Christians would have thought of the Church as individuals and not a gathering (ekklesia). Would love to see an example though.

@_BrettRyanMusic @UnseenPathways My understanding of your definition of Church doesn’t jive with what is written in Scripture. “1Co 11:18 - For first of all, when ye come together in the church, …” Clearly speaking to inspired individuals (not Church) coming together in the Church (a united body).

@adesertdryad I think the beauty of it is that the Divine Liturgy and Orthodox practice itself serves as a moderating force. Years in the church slowly and effectively creating beautiful marriages and healthy families over time. It’s wonderful to see Theosis at work.

as far as I can tell, part of the problem for orthos is their church is so small that they are functionally all TLM types and you can’t escape to normal populations

This whole debate is about what it means to "believe" in Jesus. It's clearly not just about a propositional understanding and trust in Jesus.

Attended my 2nd liturgy today, and I am sold. This is what I want.

The wonderful Robert Fagles translations of The Iliad and The Odyssey have audiobook narrations by Derek Jacobi and Ian McKellen and listening to them is every bit as great as you'd think it would be.
