I’ve just discovered that 50% of the Lotto deal that mainstream media is raving about belongs to a white owned company called GoldRush. Why aren’t they being looked into yet we focus on a black businessman who controls less than 10%?

Hands off Sanco please! 😂😂

The sooner we move to a model where the media are open political actors, the better. The facade of “objectivity” when editors & commentators do not just have political affiliations, but openly campaign for their preferences must come to an end. The Independent Media/The Star were clearly aligned to a faction of the ANC while News24 has basically become a branch of the DA, etc. so let’s stop the pretence. The US media is a good example, you know where CNN or Fox News stands in any election - they openly campaign for their preference or de-campaign the opponent. SA media practitioners must honestly reflect on this, the current status quo isn’t fooling anyone. 🤷🏽♀️

As a matter of principle, SANEF condemns any editor or journalist engaging in political activity. The role of an editor demands independence, impartiality, credibility and the unwavering trust of the public.

@S_Gwiliza “Once Upon A Time in Joburg” not “Once Upon A Time in Kuruman” 😂😂🤷🏽♀️

It’s a pity that the @PresidencyZA, through the Deputy Minister in the Presidency @NoncebaMhlauli, has told the same small-scale or black farmers in South Africa that @GovernmentZA government has bigger problems and that they are not among those priorities. It will therefore be interesting to hear what the Deputy President, Paul Mashatile @PMashatile, has to say about the challenges facing black farmers in South Africa. sundayworld.co.za/economy/ilfs-n… @SundayWorldZA @eNCA @MDNnewss @Newzroom405 @SABCNews @jozifm @SAfmRadio

Mashatile to Face Parliamentary Grilling on Service Delivery and Economic Challenges Deputy President Paul Mashatile will appear before the National Assembly on Thursday to respond to oral questions on his delegated responsibilities, amidst growing pressure on the government to address service delivery woes and economic challenges facing the country. Mashatile is expected to field questions on the government's efforts to implement rapid response interventions to address service delivery hotspots and improve governance in municipalities across the country. The Deputy President will also be quizzed on the government's interventions to support small-scale farmers, particularly in rural and underdeveloped provinces, in the face of rising fuel and fertiliser prices. The recent fuel price hike, announced by the Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, has sparked concerns about the impact on the economy and the government's plans to mitigate the effects on vulnerable communities. Mashatile is likely to face tough questions on the government's strategy to address the issue and protect the interests of small-scale farmers. Other key areas of focus for the oral replies session include the roll-out of the District Development Model (DDM), efforts to improve coordination between different spheres of government, and measures to address organised crime and gang-related violence in the Western Cape. The session, which will be streamed live on Parliament TV and social media platforms, offers MPs an opportunity to hold the government accountable on key issues affecting the country. Mashatile's appearance comes at a time when the government is facing increasing scrutiny over its handling of the economy and service delivery. The oral replies session is scheduled to take place at 14h00 on Thursday, 21 May 2026, at the Nieuwmeester Dome in Cape Town.

SA’s new Lotto King Moses Tembe is set to print billions running the National Lottery from June and his web of companies just got a whole lot closer to Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s inner circle. News24 reveals Tembe has formed multiple new businesses with trustees of Mashatile’s family trusts. One even shares an address with Tembe’s Bellamont Gaming. This on top of Mashatile’s sister-in-law (Khumo Bogatsu, twin of his wife Humile) holding a stake in Bellamont Gaming a shareholder in Sizekhaya Holdings, the winning operator. Mashatile calls it friendship. Critics call it the house always winning for the connected elite. 1) Background: Sizekhaya beat out Ithuba for the licence despite delays, court battles, and questions over political ties. The operator stands to rake in billions from a sector that preys on hope in a broke country." 2) Tembe hosted Mashatile at his palatial Umdloti Beach home. They’ve been seen together at events, including in France on a delegation. Mashatile denies any interference in the tender." 3) The Lotteries Act bars political office-bearers from direct financial interest. Defenders say sister-in-law + associates = arm’s length. But when the DP’s network keeps layering in... optics are terrible 4) This comes amid Mashatile’s long-running scrutiny. How many 'coincidences' before it stops being coincidence? What do you think clean business or crony jackpot? Source 1) news24.com/investigations… 2) dailymaverick.co.za/article/2025-0…

I don’t get the fuss about why we need to focus so much on business people who are close to Deputy President Paul Mashatile, especially if they’re LEGITIMATE. For EG, Nelson Mandela had ties with the late businessman Douw Steyn and other white business people. Cyril Ramaphosa has links to many business people, some even funded his campaign. Thabo Mbeki himself had connections to various business people. I mean even Donald Trump is directly linked to Elon Musk. Is the problem that DP Mashatile is linked to black business people and not necessarily those linked to Stellenbosch? I’d understand the focus on him if he was linked to illegitimate business people, who don’t even qualify or have experience.
