Today marks #NationalDefenseTransportationDay, highlighting the transportation industry's role in U.S. prosperity and security.
Critical infrastructure, including roads and seaports, protects our national supply chain, supporting jobs and a growing economy. But at the end of the day, it's people who keep it all running.
Today, we recognize all defense transportation workers--including the U.S. Army's 841st Transportation Battalion and 597th Transportation Brigade--who move cargo through JAXPORT, and our Blount Island neighbors, the US Marine's Blount Island Command. Thank you for your service to our port and country.

OIA Global handles everything from containers and vehicles (including a classic car from 1938!) to oversized and non-containerized cargo.
“The recent acquisition of JF Moran by OIA Global will help strengthen our partnership with JAXPORT, as we can now provide additional diversified worldwide logistics services to clients while making use of capabilities and facilities,” said Alberto Maldonado, Strategic Operations Director at OIA Global in Jacksonville.

Our newest ship-to-shore container crane is officially moving cargo 🏗️
The new Liebherr crane is now operating at JAXPORT’s Talleyrand terminal — the third new crane to enter service at JAXPORT in the last six months — expanding cargo-handling capabilities at Florida’s largest container port.
“With support from our partners at the State of Florida, we continue to make strategic investments that create economic growth and support jobs,” said JAXPORT CEO Eric Green. “All three of the new cranes we’ve added over the last year ensure JAXPORT is well positioned to keep cargo moving efficiently for our customers and community.”
Together with two additional cranes now operating at Blount Island, the investment is part of a $93 million effort to modernize JAXPORT’s crane fleet.

At the @NDTAHQ Jax Chapter’s Maritime Industrial Base symposium, industry leaders shared perspectives about Jacksonville’s strategic role in strengthening the nation’s supply chain.
JAXPORT Chief Commercial Officer Robert Peek joined a panel that explored the region’s role in shipbuilding, ship repair and national defense readiness, and why Northeast Florida is well positioned to grow.
With a strong network of shipbuilders, logistics providers, trucking firms, rail connections and maritime operators, Jacksonville offers a full logistics ecosystem.
“Jacksonville is a good candidate for shipbuilding and maritime related industrial work,” said Peek. “When you consider what a ship builder or large maritime company might need from a community—land, labor, utilities, supportive community, and multimodal transportation infrastructure—Northeast Florida checks all of those boxes to be successful.”
At the event, @FMC_gov Commissioner @thelauradibella added to the discussion about Jacksonville, and said there’s a big focus on JAXPORT, primarily because of the deeper harbor, strategic location and large military presence.
“There’s a lot of opportunity in the immediate future for JAXPORT," said Federal Maritime Commissioner Laura DiBella. "There’s a lot of room to grow here."
