ICE officers stopped by our farm yesterday. “We need to inspect your property for illegal aliens,” one of them said. I replied, “Alright, but whatever you do, don’t go into that field over there.” The officer in charge exploded. “Mister, I have the authority of the federal government behind me!” he barked, reaching into his back pocket. He yanked out a badge and shoved it in my face. “See this fucking badge? This badge means I can go wherever I want on ANY land. No questions asked, no answers given. Am I clear? Do you understand?” I nodded politely and said, “Be my guest.” Then I went back to my chores. About ten minutes later, I heard screaming. I looked up and saw six ICE agents running for their lives, being chased by my big, mean, old bull. And with every step, that bull was closing in. Fast. It looked like they were about to get gored for sure. So I dropped my tools, ran over to the fence, and shouted at the top of my lungs: “YOUR BADGE! SHOW HIM YOUR FUCKING BADGE!”

@jbartonmezzo Tell me about it, Jamie. Current happenings turn my stomach several times a day sometimes and my heartbeat goes too high. Not my normal self - whatever that is - but I’d prefer a bit more stability in life these days

I’ve been swimming through a lot of anxiety lately and one of the ways I’ve found that helps me slow down that spinning brain/erratic heart rate is to try to make others smile. A compliment or brief moment of positive connection goes a long way & helps get me out of my own head!

I called @RepNikema today to voice my dissent against the budgetary bill that the Senate just pushed to the House/my support for her fighting the good fight on our behalf, and the person answering the phone was just so kind, and seemed so glad to hear from me. Call your reps.

@NYCDubliner I learned a long time ago to just buy and travel with a UK or European blow dryer/ curling iron rather than trying to do the switchable ones. Way easier, and makes sense for someone like me who travels so much!

@jbartonmezzo 220v vs 110v. Working with power tools with American friends horrifies me, they're really cavalier about unplugging and making sure not to cut live wires. They've all been shocked growing up and it's fine. At 220v, it's not fine. All for the love of a prompt cup of tea.

I have a question for Europe: why aren’t electrical outlets in bathrooms a thing here? Yes, every once in a while I get a new hotel that chose to put them in there, but for the vast majority of places I‘ve ever stayed, they are just not a thing. Why is that??
