Still early but I’m tracking my losses on players I said to buy this season: Losses: Eury Perez Carter Jensen Roman Anthony Emmet Sheehan Luis Robert Jr. Still confident in Roman and Jensen, I was HIGH on them. They will likely find their way off this list.

The answers to many modern problems are simple but politically incorrect. So instead of solving anything, everybody pretends they don't know what's going on, and spend years misdiagnosing the issue, talking in circles, and wasting time.

💯 % I struggle getting kids to understand this. I’ve consistently taken over high school programs that needed to be turned around and the kids will push back on this. I’m thinking “your ways don’t work, they don’t produce a winning product. What or who is in your mind telling you to continue doing things the same way you have been doing things?” I always say, you have to change to change.

@PatrickLethert @SanPedroAce @CoachSwit Exactly right, and the added cost nobody talks about is the increased wild pitches and passed balls. Maxed out velo + spin rate + movement make life brutal for these catchers. So these walks end up being doubles and triples.

@SanPedroAce @CoachSwit Most mid major D1s can use a few of those guys on the roster. Maybe upper 80s instead of mid, but I’ve seen plenty of D1 games where no one coming in from the pen can throw strikes.

College coach told me this week: “We’re looking for mid-80s arms that throw strikes and can land a secondary.” Because our 90+ guys can’t find the zone… it’s a walk-a-thon. At every level—you can’t defend a walk. Thoughts?

Apparently, Nats coaches are now using tennis rackets instead of fungos to hit fly balls to their outfielders. This is really the point in baseball, where you’ve gotta sit there and go holy crap. We need more baseball people and less nerds teaching this game.

If pitchers are forced to go into the strike zone, due to ABS, perhaps that will increase hits and runs?

@RedFoxRoto Leiter had a 25% K-BB rate in 2024 despite an 89 stuff+.. dude's got some veteran smoke & mirrors going on. Sterner has slightly better underlying skills but they seem to like him early. The other 2 walk too many imo.

Mark Leiter Jr. got the first A's save last night. Don't rush to your waiver wires for him. This is likely to be a fluid bullpen with no set closer, and there's no single option worth rostering for ratios/K's if they're not getting 50% or more of the saves.

For aesthetic reasons, Americans must get back into baseball. We won’t be truly “back” until it’s by far the most popular sport.
