Muslims in Britain are crying “Islamophobia” after an ex-Muslim appeared on British television and openly criticized Islam. The former Muslim stated that Islam is not compatible with Western values and warned that this is a serious problem that must be addressed in the coming years. This has become a predictable pattern, any criticism of Islam, even from someone who grew up as a Muslim, is immediately dismissed as hatred rather than being honestly discussed. What do you think?

What if films (especially horror films) didn't try to look realistic?
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) is one of the most famous films of all time, largely because of its amazing unreal, distorted appearance. Some other films took this approach, such as Der Golem (1920), Nosferatu (1921 - not as extreme as Caligari), and Metropolis (1927).
Later, the Wizard of Oz, and films by Terry Gilliam and Tim Burton carried on this effect to an extent.
But consider this - in 1920, it was far from clear how movies needed to look. Most people were at least as familiar with theater sets which, of course, are made to be symbolic rather than realistic. The idea that films should look "realistic" wasn't set in stone.

Here is why guns are good:
1) they are more effective for hunting and defending yourself against dangerous animals.
2) they are far more effective in war and police actions. Japan has millions of guns. They're just not owned by civilians.
3) I am 70 years old. My wife is also 70 plus she is about 150cm tall. If a young thug assaulted us we would be completely helpless. If we are carrying a gun, the odds are far better. Even if the thug also has a gun, our chances of escaping harm go up to probably 40% or so, as compared to 1% tops without a gun. We are safer with a gun.

Do we need ANOTHER vehicle for adult fulfillment?
No, we don’t.
Think of all the institutions and avenues already devoted to adult satisfaction: careers, travel, casual sex, social media validation, consumerism, luxury lifestyles, self-actualization culture, hookup apps, entertainment, reproductive technology, therapeutic culture, even pet parenthood. Even school systems have morphed to serve teachers unions. Adults have endless ways to pursue happiness, pleasure, identity, status, and personal fulfillment.
Think of one institution that exists to safeguard and protect children? It used to be marriage and the family. But even that is now simply another tool to give adults what they want.

Adults, adults, adults. What about the children? Marriage isn't supposed to make adults feel good, it's supposed to be an institution that protects children. Even the term "mother" and "father" are being erased out of law because of Obergefell. The most basic biological reality is now considered discrimination because adults need their accommodation from the government.

For millions of us, Pat Morita simply 𝘪𝘴 Mr. Miyagi — the gentle, wise karate master with the unmistakable voice and the “wax on, wax off.”
Here's what most people never realized: that voice was pure invention. Morita was born in California in 1932 and spoke with a 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 his entire life. The Miyagi accent? He built it from scratch for the role.
And his real story outshines the character's. As a boy, Morita spent part of World War II in a Japanese-American internment camp — locked up by his own country for his ancestry. He climbed out through stand-up comedy, and at 52 created one of the most beloved characters in film history, earning an 𝐎𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 for it.
The wise old sensei was really a kid from Isleton, California, who taught himself to become a legend.
