Every city you’ve ever driven through has a self-storage facility you didn’t notice.
Tucked behind a gas station.
Off the highway exit.
Next to the car wash nobody goes to.
Exposed metal.
Gravel lot.
A faded sign with a phone number.
And that ugly little building is probably throwing off $15-20K a month in cash flow to someone who bought it for less than a house costs in most states.
That’s what gets me about this business.
The deals that change lives don’t look impressive.
They look overlooked.
The best operators I know aren’t raising funds and attempting to build empires.
They’re collecting rent checks from 200 tenants who auto-pay every month and never call.
You don’t need to be big.
You need to be right once.

Time doesn’t make the grief go away, but it shifts. I still miss Sam every single day and wish he was here but I can’t change that.
What I have been doing is donating the proceeds from the tshirt created in memory of Sam to Jae’s Place
They have the resources to help those who need it and to encourage genuine check ins with those you love or those you think could use a chat. 10/10 would recommend and I hope one day I can do something in memory of Sam to that extent.
