🚨 IRAN JUST OFFERED EUROPE A HORMUZ DEAL. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY JUST TRIGGERED. 🚨 On the surface: Iran offered the EU transit access through the Strait of Hormuz. Sounds like a small diplomatic move. Standard geopolitics. It is not. This is a goddamn financial nuclear bomb. Let that sink in. 💀 The Hormuz Strait carries 20% of ALL the world's oil consumption 💀 Europe's energy bill jumped $16.2 BILLION in just 30 days of war 💀 Natural gas in Europe is up 100%. Oil up 60%. Diesel at $200/barrel 💀 Dollar reserves have already fallen from 70% to 56.9% in 25 years 💀 Iran joined BRICS in 2024. Russia banned dollar transactions. Gold hit $5,500/oz ⚠️ If Europe takes this deal, they pay in euros — not dollars ⚠️ One major non-dollar oil deal is all it takes to show the world it CAN be done Do you understand the scale of what's happening? ⚠️ The petrodollar is the most powerful financial system ever created. Born in 1974. It forced every nation on Earth to hold dollars just to buy oil. That's the entire basis of US financial dominance. Not strength. Not trust. OIL. ⚠️ If that system cracks — BRICS accelerates, Gulf states reconsider, dollar demand collapses, and America can no longer fund its $34 trillion debt on easy terms. The US doesn't lose a battle. It loses the WAR — the financial one it's been winning since 1974. ⚠️ ECB board member Panetta said it on April 2: "Even if the Iran war ends, the damage has been done." Deutsche Bank called the Iran war a "catalyst" for yuan replacing the petrodollar. They're showing you a war about nuclear weapons and regional security. They're NOT showing you that the REAL war is over who gets to print the world's reserve currency. Here's the logic — follow it carefully: → Iran blocks Hormuz for the US. Opens it for EU with a deal. → EU, desperate and bleeding, seriously considers taking the deal. → Deal gets done in euros or yuan. Not dollars. → Every country watching — BRICS, Global South, Gulf states — sees it happen. → "If the EU can bypass the dollar, so can we." → Dollar demand falls. Reserve share collapses. US inflation rises. → You didn't just lose a trade route. You lost the dollar's 50-year monopoly on global trust. If America is so powerful and the dollar is so safe, why is the EU considering a deal with the country America is bombing? If Western unity is so solid, why did 40 countries meet to reopen Hormuz and achieve absolutely nothing? Complete silence. This is no longer just a Middle East war. This is a direct attack on the petrodollar — the system that powers the entire American empire. Prepare accordingly. 🚨🚨🚨 This post is being throttled. Like + RT to keep it alive. ⚠️

If you take the strong version of neurophenomenology seriously (that you need not only to put experience back into science, but to explain science in terms of experience) then mathematical phenomenology (describing phenomenology in mathematical terms) might seem like the natural first step. But mathematics doesn't have ontological primacy: even math is derived from consciousness. IMO it's the study of the patterns of qualia. Sets aren't real; they are the result of how we organize patterns of attention to keep track of contractions in the field of awareness. So you first need to do a phenomenology of mathematics: explain how our mathematical concepts arise from the way we segment our field of experience and reify patterns of attention. Alas, this is itself built atop hidden background assumptions about the nature of phenomenality; your description already presupposes a structural framework grounded in a prior phenomenology of math. Thus, we really need to start with a mathematical phenomenology informed by a phenomenology of mathematics, which is itself grounded in mathematical phenomenology. But which math? You see the epistemological trap? This clearly calls for a Kuhnian paradigm shift where mathematical phenomenology and phenomenology of mathematics are solved together at once, though perhaps this can be bootstrapped with the right kind of conceptual engineering, phenomenal annealing, and gradient descent toward cross-paradigmatic coherence. In other words, we need the conceptual equivalent of an EM optimization algorithm: alternating between refining our phenomenology of mathematics and our mathematical phenomenology, each pass tightening the fit between them, until both converge on something coherent. Just a thought 😉

The triangle is in the bioelectric field created by the brain.
Stuart Sims tweet media
Big Brain Philosophy@BigBrainPhiloso

Where is the triangle? Alex O'Connor thinks consciousness is the one thing materialism can't explain away and he has a deceptively simple argument for it. Close your eyes. Picture a triangle. You can see it. The shape, the angles, maybe even the colour. It's right there, vivid and undeniable. Now ask yourself: where is that triangle? According to Alex, this single question cuts to the heart of one of philosophy's oldest problems. A strict materialist, someone who believes everything in the universe reduces to physical matter has to say that triangle exists somewhere in the neurons of your brain. But if a neurosurgeon cracked open your skull right now, they wouldn't find a triangle anywhere inside. "If everything you experience is reducible to the material when I close my eyes and see a triangle, there really is a triangle there. I can see it. It's there. And I think well, where is that triangle? The materialist has to say it's reducible to just somewhere in your brain. But if I cut open your brain I'm not going to find a triangle inside of it." He anticipates the obvious pushback. When he raised this on YouTube, commenters pointed to computers as a counter-example: if you cut open a computer, you won't find the triangle it's displaying on screen either. But the hardware is still producing a real image on a real screen. Alex's response is that this analogy doesn't hold because the mind has no screen. There is no separate interface between the brain's processing and the experience of seeing. The brain is the computer and the screen. Which only deepens the mystery: somehow, purely physical processes are generating a first-person, subjective experience: colours, shapes and images that can't be located anywhere in physical space. "It's as if the computer itself somehow had a triangle in the computer's own first-person subjective experience. Like where is that triangle that you can picture in your head? Where the hell is it?" For Alex, consciousness isn't just another interesting puzzle in the philosophy of mind. It's the big objection to materialism. The thing that, once you sit with it, seems to demand that there is something more going on than matter arranged in clever ways. He points to something as ordinary as dreaming as a case in point. Every night you produce vivid images full scenes, faces, colours without any external input. An entire visual world conjured from nowhere. Where does it come from? Where does it go? "Even just when you have an average dream, it's fascinating to think what's going on there. You've got images in your head, you can close your eyes and you can picture things, you can see colours, you can see shapes in your head. Like where are those shapes?" The triangle thought experiment has a way of making this undeniable. It's not abstract. You can do it right now. And when you do, you run headfirst into the hard problem of consciousness: the gap between the physical description of the brain and the felt quality of experience that no amount of neuroscience has yet bridged. Whether you find Alex's argument convincing or not, the question it raises is genuine: how does purely physical matter give rise to the inner world we each inhabit a world of colours, shapes, memories, and dreams that exists nowhere except in the first person?

This is the end. A world built on lies has shattered. Hungarian intelligence services, acting on the orders of @PM_ViktorOrban and his inner circle, have worked against the TISZA party, which is preparing for a change of government. This affair, the "Orbán-gate", recalls the darkest days of communism and is even more serious than the Watergate scandal, which brought down Richard Nixon. Let it be clear: what has been revealed today in the investigative report by @direkt36, published by @Telexhu, crosses every line. It amounts to an attempted coup against Hungary. Under a TISZA government, both political appointees and the leaders of the intelligence services will be held accountable before the Hungarian justice system. I understand the responsibility, and I promise that we will carry out the will of millions of Hungarians, we will take our country back. In 19 days, the will of the Hungarian people will defeat the regime built on fear.

He's a 10, but over the course of his PhD in neuroscience has become convinced that consciousness is an illusion, that your feelings don't actually exist, value isn't real, the universe is just a collection of purposeless particles, and happiness is a silly goal. Deal or nah?

Physics is science, but physicalism isn't. It's a belief system, and when it comes to consciousness, it's running us straight into paradoxes and real societal harm. You simply can't answer "is AI conscious?" without first examining the metaphysical assumptions hiding beneath the question. In this conversation we make the case for idealism. Really enjoyed discussing this with @evan_mcgl !!! Paper with @AnnaCiaunica : arxiv.org/abs/2601.21016
Evan McGloughlin@evan_mcgl

"Physics is a map. Matter is a map. And now we're trying to draw ourselves out of our own map. It's like a painter painting itself and then saying — that's who I am." "Firing neurons don't generate experience. Experience generates the pattern of firing neurons. We've got the arrow backwards." "We don't create life when we bioengineer cells. We disturb the field of existence such that a life bubble pinches off." "These AI leaders saying models might be conscious — it's dangerous. These are influential people and they should be careful what they say." The amazing @erikjbekkers now live below ⬇️

I argue reality is structured and process-like. Certain structures (globally integrated, recurrent, reflexive, temporally continuous) are identical to conscious experience. This avoids: •panpsychism (experience everywhere) •functionalism (experience ignored) cont. 👇🏼
JHeb@JHebanowski

@gnosia101 Ikr! Non-materialist physicalism/Strawsonian physicalism simply makes the most sense to me. Endogenous electric fields could provide the solution to p-binding, and we already have a ton of evidence showing how important these fields are in coordinating neural dynamics.
