As a reminder, if the NCAA Tournament was 76 teams this past season, that means the following teams would've been in:
Auburn (17-16, 7-11 in the SEC)
Oklahoma (19-15, 7-11)
San Diego State (22-11, 14-6)
Indiana (18-14, 9-11)
Those were the First Four Out. From there, KenPom suggests these four would've put us at 76:
Cincinnati (18-15, 9-9)
New Mexico (26-11, 13-7)
Baylor (17-17, 6-12)
Seton Hall (21-12, 10-10)
@espn@jeffborzello It won't but this SHOULD come with two rules:
1) AQ teams get a bye to the 64: play-in games should be for at-large only
2) you should be required to have at least a .500 record in conference in order to be eligible for an at-large spot
IT'S OFFICIAL‼️
The NCAA is expanding the men's and women's basketball tourneys to 76 teams. @jeffborzello has you covered on what you'll need to know ⤵️ spr.ly/6010BBYBEM
@DickieV The 8 teams being added to the tournament will be better than at least 20 auto qualifiers in the 64. That is not a watered down tournament. Make the cupcake conferences play real teams to get in the tourney.
Yes it sickens me that they water down the tournament by expanding - more teams that are MEDIOCRE at best will. Be added - the real chaos of college hoops instability - no controls of NIL are just left alone - is that leadership ? espn.com/espn/feature/s…
@MarchMadnessMBB@TheAndyKatz This is stupid.
Teams that can’t go .500 in their own conference have proven they can’t beat tournament teams. We don’t need these teams undeservedly in.
I’d be on board if we gave more 25+ win mid majors more opportunities - but we all know that’s not the case.

@thejorgerojas@MarchMadnessMBB It’s not insignificant
1. You’re ruining the bracket experience as fans need to choose more undecided games or make last minute changes
2. We’re pushing small programs to lower seeds with more play in games, when they’ve earned a spot
3. No one wants to watch sub .500 P4 teams🤮
@MarchMadnessMBB We all hate it. You’re trying to ruin the best event in sports… congrats on being the villain. #MarchSadness
We don’t want to watch a power conference team, that is under .500 in their own conference, in the NCAA tournament.
