That's income tax, property tax, sales, and excise tax as a share of total income: - New York topped that list with a tax burden of 12.5% - Hawaii ranked second at 12.3% - Maine is 3rd - Vermont is 4th - Connecticut is 5th - New Jersey is 6th Every one of these states is run by Democrat control. (Vermont is the exception with a Republican governor but the state is run by a Democrat majority legislator) Alaska had the lowest tax burden at just 5%. Also near the bottom was Tennessee at number 47, Florida at number 46, both with burdens around 6%

For the folks suggesting that “Canal Street has always been like this” (many of whom are visibly out of staters) it might help you to learn a few things. First, I’ve personally lived in this precise corridor for YEARS and I have single handedly not only watched this zone grow steadily out of control, but have been filming its devolution piecemeal for the better part of nine months after I hit a point of intolerance. Second, the amount of residents and business owners in this 2 mile stretch who DM me on a daily basis confirming precisely this, folks who have lived here for DECADES, validate the same. Ask them. They will tell you that historically, there had been a group of mostly friendly Asian women with pamphlets selling knock off goods. But given their politeness and minimal intrusion, the police usually left them alone because they weren’t really bothering anyone. However, after and through our "migrant crisis'" (to call it a crisis is misleading; sanctuary city status is a choice. True crises are not), these folks have changed in tone and character, quality and quantity. Now, block after block is covered in trash, graffiti, squalor, and blight, and even a 3 minute stroll through the melee (if you can even manage to make it, given their wares, carts, blankets and debris covering entire sidewalks for blocks), is met with cat called women and drug offers, to say nothing of the naked hostility and open violence if you dare to bring a camera to film public streets. Third, if the stakeholders who actually live here (as opposed to the randoms online who reach back into a memory bank of visiting The Big Apple when they were a child!) was not enough for you, it may also help to know this exponential devolution was well documented by the Adams Administration during his entire tenure. He essentially got down on hands and knees in presentations pleading for help as he quoted a figure of 10,000 migrants arriving per month, before turning around and notching 12 billion in tax payer aid to them over a course of 5 years. Fourth, to the extent the peanut gallerists respond with “well how is that Zohran’s fault?!” - Zohran is the biggest proponent of sanctuary city EXPANSION in American history. If someone with common sense had been elected, they would have inherited a problem, absolutely. But that person could have begun to fix it, not balloon it. Fifth, and finally, arguing that problem X has "existed for decades", (even if that were true, which it is, of course, not) does little by way of convincing me, or anyone with brain cells, that problem X should not be immediately resolved. We do not have to live like this.

No one called that version sick. The obsessive measurement didn't create the disorder. It was the treatment for one that already existed. My internal signals were so broken I couldn't trust them. I needed external data to find my way back. I had to rebuild from scratch. Kara says this is body dysmorphia cosplaying as science. I'd say it's what happens when a person loses the plot so completely that the only way home is through the numbers. I publish it all. Including the failures, embarrassment, and the erection data, because hiding is what created the disorder. She can call it a circus, repellent, or eating disorder. You cannot call it hiding.

Guys, I’m an idiot. All this time I’ve spent trying not to die, I had toxic turf in my backyard. Artificial turf contains crumb rubber infill made from recycled tires, which leaches chemicals including PFAS, heavy metals, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. These compounds are linked to hormone disruption, carcinogenicity, and systemic inflammation. I don’t know how I missed it. It makes me question my basic competence in life. What gets me is that I try so hard to survey the world of potential idiocy. Then I find out there’s a monument to idiocy sitting right in front of my face that I was blind to. I’m removing the turf, yet I’m still stuck with this seemingly unsolvable problem of how to not be an idiot.

Let me ask a simple question: When someone uses fraud to take your property, why is it treated like a normal tenant dispute? This system doesn’t protect honest people. It punishes them. NYC talks about a “housing crisis.” But who would rent out their property under these conditions? This is not just my story. This is happening to small landlords across New York. Life pro tip. Not enough people talk about this. The secret to having a "fulfilling" life is doing new things. Radically doing new things. Consistently. Every day. New activities, people, goals, even something as simple as trying new foods. Life feels longer when you're a kid because every day is packed with almost infinite amount of new learning. As you get older, you've already acclimated to your environment, the new inputs stop, so your perception of time speeds up drastically. You fall into routine, which is a time accelerant. If you want to feel like you have a long infinite lifespan, like you did as a child, you MUST be having new experiences, which slows time down.

Oh and EV charging, RV parking and power in a quiet culdesac neighborhood. Some hosts are stupid and greedy! I’m in Franklin TN btw… come visit!
