@ZwarFarms We are pretty sure Canola was the only thing that got its roots into the stored moisture. Rest died before it got wet enough to grow deeper.
2024
Driest year since 1914, severe frosts in Sept.
Crop performance
1- canola (on legume stubble)
2- beans (into stripper straw)
3- wheat
4- canola hay (frosted)
5- barley
6- lentils (driest block)
Ground cover was king, fortunate to get what we did.
Bring on 2025 🤞
Just wondering if anyone has fitted a foam marker on the header so family can see whats harvested when coming for a ride??? Presume only a South Aussie 2024 problem. Hopefully not required next year!🤣
Afew soil moisture probe graphs explain the current state of play in SA.
1. Stacked graph, wheat roots active at 90cm, Paskeville.
2. Summed graph, same site with previous 2 yrs in Mid & Top panel, close to hitting the 'Driest Ever' bottom.
3. Stacked graph, only had infiltration to 20cm for the entire year, wheat really going backwards in the Mid & Upper North.
4. 10cm Ave week soil Temp, bottom panel this year, top panel same time last yr. 2°C warmer this yr!
@nullaboo48 Spencer Gulf containers in Port Pirie used to have lots of choices.
Got mine from there and very happy. Best to look at them in person if possible.
@stockjournal Upper North fast becoming well below average. I feel a rain will help quality perhaps but the quantity went out the window weeks ago!!!💁♂️
POLL 🗣️ | Estimates have South Australia’s upcoming harvest coming in at slightly above our 5-year average, but a dry finish could test that. What are you expecting in your patch? stockjournal.com.au/story/8369051/…
Question for @Telstra since we now spend most of the time on 3G with no data. 4g seems to have disappeared. We used to have good 4g. What happens when you turn off 3g. We pay for something we can’t use. We used to have better service on cdma. We run boosters in Everything.
