Last night, I gave a Bitcoin talk to a crypto club, half expecting wailing & gnashing of teeth whenever I eviscerated crypto narratives. But even before the speech, I was pleasantly surprised how much those I spoke to already agreed with me and how receptive they were to Bitcoin.

@pounce_capital Any income is taxed separately already. Whether somebody else's asset is "productive" or not doesn't give you or the state any right to take it. Please stop advocating for theft and create your own wealth instead. Life isn't a zero sum game.

@JP_Technology if the income produced by your asset cant even keep up with inflation then wouldn't it be better for it to be owned by someone who can make it productive? hoarding isn't good for anyone

The CGT discount wasn't merely to offset the reduction in real gains due to inflation over the holding period. It also offset the fact that gains accrued over MANY YEARS get taxed as though they were earned in a SINGLE YEAR, pushing most of it into the highest marginal bracket.

@OCM_529 @Conza It only "aligned" because it was a bull market and ALL activity was pumping. Alignment = correlation ≠ causation. It was a stupid fad that is dying its natural free-market death and no "high fee regime" is going to save it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I think you're misunderstanding something, because the mechanism as described perfectly aligns with increased demand in a high fee regime. It doesn't cost anything extra to buy and sell an inscription, thus the increased demand from users on existing projects will attract new projects to inscribe at higher fee rates.

@OCM_529 @Conza Delusional nonsense theory. You are now saying that the causal relationship is the opposite of what you first said, assuming there even is one. The reality is that the more it costs to put this garbage on Bitcoin, the less likely "new users" are to do so. It's simple economics.

@JP_Technology @Conza I was, actually. The mechanism works like this. New users move their Bitcoin on-chain and want to find things to do with it. New users discover Ordinals, and the high fee regime accelerates.

@Conza And listen, shithead, I've condemned and disparaged spam, inscriptions & ordinals many times, including in this conversation, which you either lie about or can't comprehend because you're an idiot. I speak at MANY conferences. The 2 BM ones I've done couldn't care less.

@JP_Technology You couldn't tell me what the "free market" is actually based on if your life depended on it JP. The only larp here is you. Go on. You don't have any. Keep trying to (inadvertently) simp for scammers/spammers so you can remain on the Bailey💩conf circuit x.com/i/status/20168…
Conza@Conza

@notgrubles @hodlonaut What "free market" are you talking about exactly? Actually retarded comment... go on - define your terms. x.com/Conza/status/1…

@Conza All you can do is quote dump others. You have NO ideas. The free market has just left egg all over your face. Reality has once again slapped you on the back of the head while you try to spin dishonest pseudo-intellectual webs trying to deny it.

@OCM_529 @Conza You obviously weren't around during the block size war. I was. I know when the fees were highest. There is no logical mechanism by which high on-chain fees wil make ordinals more populular. That's just stupid. You don't know what you're talking about so please stop.

@JP_Technology @Conza Nope, highest fee regime was in 2024. All future high fee regimes will see an increase in demand for ordinals. Call it a prediction, but it's really a fact.

@OCM_529 @Conza There were periods of FAR higher fees before the inscriptions fad. If there were a causal relationship, it could only be the other way: The fad contributes to block space demand, driving up fees.

@JP_Technology @Conza Sounds logical but the highest demand for inscriptions coincided with the highest fee regime in Bitcoin's history.

@OCM_529 @Conza A high fee environment would be caused by more people transacting on the Bitcoin blockchain. That wouldn't increase demand for ords/inscriptions. It would reduce it by pricing most of it out.

@Conza Are you really this obtuse 🤡 , or are YOU being Intellectually dishonest? 2020 was a BUG FIX, dummy, which kept Bitcoin working the SAME way as it had been up until then. NOT fixing it after discovery would have resulted in the change, i.e, the death of Bitcoin.

@JP_Technology No intellectually honesty JP. Didn't answer the question. Which still applies. The folks who supported the 2010 inflation bug fix, you'd be screaming: "why are you so hell bent in intervention"? 😂🤡

@Conza That would be the one in which interest and demand for ordinals & inscriptions dried naturally because they are pointless & stupid fads. Their decline is happening, even in a low fee environment, so it would only get worse in a competitive fee one! Must I spell this out?

@Conza Why are you so hell bent on intervention when the free market is doing exactly what Libertarians believe free markets are supposed to do? You are not a Libertarian, you're a LARP. Don't lecture me on "principles" 🤡

@venorusprime That's not how this works. BIP-110 hasn't activated and very likely never will activate, so it's affect on anything is two fifths of fuck all. Spam and ordinals are failing at the hands of the free market, as they should be allowed to do.

@Conza Once again, a BIP-110 pushing moron is unwilling or unable to distinguish between changes to the implementation client and meddling with the consensus rules that define the protocol.

@pounce_capital Why? Do you really think that someone with a trillion in assets hasn't already paid more into the system than you? What gives you the right to take from others? What's your "fair share" of someone else's belongings?

@pounce_capital Because it would force the sale of those assets to pay them, particularly when the "gain" is measured in $ that shrink in purchasing power. If you have "x", & 20 years later "x" costs more $, you still just have "x" & gained nothing if the price of everything else has risen too.

@JP_Technology The thing I’ve always found stupid is all tax is paid in a calendar year yet assets are accrued over lifespans why are assets not taken into account on tax paid

@GraingerRule1 Well we can and we did. Prior to 1985, government stole NONE of the capital gains. Many countries still don't do it. Even when they did, the rate was discounted to compensate for the inflationary reduction in real gains AND what I described, as well as to reduce capital flight.

@rippler_t It's an attempt, albeit based on an arbitrary time frame, to distinguish between short-term or high-frequency asset flipping and genuine investment.
