Do you know how costly this micro-factory retrofit assembly line idea will be? Where in Los Angeles, for example, will they find land to build such micro-factory? What’s the expected capacity and planned throughput of this micro-factory? When will construction begin? How long does permitting take place? When will it be completed and start servicing cars? 3 years? 5 years? Will owners have loaner vehicles to use while our cars are back in these factories?
Or do they plan on pitching tents out in the Mojave Desert for this to take place? 😂

@OutofSpecDave And people complain about Tesla service pricing. Higher end cars have devalued as much as more economical versions, but where it gets nuts is service departments of these expensive cars

Just say no to crack. Been trying to fix our cracked Macan EV windshield for a month. After waiting 3 weeks for Safelite to get an OEM windshield into the shop, they just let me know that they can’t do the job as they don’t have the calibration equipment needed. Porsche of Greenwich happy to fix: $5,595 plus tax. Takes about 3-4 days to complete. Next loaner car not available until 5/18. Insane

Selfishly though I don’t want a commuter EV and I don’t want an EREV truck so now what?
I’m also not convinced on the commuter market especially the midsized truck form factor. The US is not Europe and China. The truck EV and yet to be successful and you only have to look to Rivian R1T vs R1S to see it. If affordable commuter cars is what the market wants way aren’t the Leaf, Bolt and Kona doing well? Maybe you can argue Equinox is that’s at least at 10k ish a quarter but that’s also about what Mach E sold when they were pushing it. A serious EV needs to break 100k a year IMO and only Tesla is currently doing that in the US.
My last quibble is unless Ford does something different in 27 or builds inventory before releasing it to dealers it will be the Lightning and Maverick story again with markups and addons. I’m super curious to see how this all plays out.

Ford CEO Jim Farley in new interview on their EV strategy: "We were No. 2 to @Tesla for three or four years in EVs. We moved really fast, but these were designed the wrong way, let’s put it that way. So they lost a lot of money. But we got to see how customers choose. And we also came out with the hybrid F-150, America’s best-selling truck. We hybridized it before Ram, and they still don’t even have a hybrid. So we got to learn before any of our competitors, where the EV market was already going. And with the escalated fuel price, it’s only reinforced it. We got out of our high-end EVs, but what we decided to do is double down on our affordable ones. And that is what’s selling today around the world, not just in the U.S. You look at Australia, you look at China, you look at Europe. All those markets are moving to a pure EV being more of a commuter-type, low-cost vehicle. That’s really where the market has already gone." (via @FastCompany interview)

@tommolog @Spikerpm @stateofcharge The installer should have used at the least an EV rated plug and properly terminated the wires (if he didn't then shame on him). That being said it could have been product failure, my recommendation is Level 2 ESEV and not using the portable one provided by manufacturer.
